Hydrating lotion

Most people have reached for a moisturizing lotion, regardless of their skin type. After a shower or bath, the body is deprived of natural hydration, which can result in dried skin. Therefore, it’s very important to immediately restore the skin’s proper hydro-lipid balance.

This can be easily done with hydrating lotions, especially those containing shea butter, avocado oil, milk proteins, aloe, honey, or soy extracts. These types of ingredients are the key to keeping the skin moisturized and slowing down the aging process.

Hydrating lotions are light in texture and quickly absorb into the skin. Because of that, you can put on clothes rather quickly, without fear of transferring lotion onto them. These lotions help the skin become hydrated, smoother, and more elastic and are recommended for people with dry skin.

Regenerating lotion

Mature and very dry skin requires deep hydration and regeneration. Most regenerative lotions are rich in silk proteins, cherry extract, chestnut galacturonate, and vitamin D3. These products stimulate the production of ceramides and restore the natural balance of a cracked and rough epidermis.

Firming lotion

If you want to fight against the symptoms of aging skin, you’ll want to try out a firming lotion. Firming lotions mainly contain coenzyme Q10 known for its anti-aging properties. It also contains calcium and retinol which improves the mature skin structure. This type of lotion will improve the skin’s elasticity, firmness, and tension. And not only that, but it’ll also stimulate collagen fibers, the production of which decreases with age.

Soothing lotion

When you have sensitive skin, you need to be pickier when it comes to shopping for your lotion. Fragrances, alcohol, and other ingredients can be irritating. look for ingredients like allantoin, and panthenol.

Slimming and anti-cellulite lotion

To add moisture and firmness to the skin and at the same time help fight unwanted fat on the hips, stomach, buttocks, and thighs, go for a slimming or anti-cellulite lotion. Lotions like these can help stimulate the production of collagen and fight cellulite through their ingredients. They typically contain caffeine, L-carnitine, and ivy extract, which are all excellent weapons when it comes to fighting fat and sagging skin. Using them in combination with slimming exercises and a healthy diet can help restore your overall figure.

Bronzing lotion

No time to lay out? A bronzing lotion is a good alternative to a natural tan. If you don’t want to use the tanning bed or simply don’t have time, take advantage of a bronzing lotion. This type of lotion gently tints the skin a golden color—which is exactly how a healthy tan should appear. If used regularly, you can flaunt a sun-kissed glow year-round.

Bronzing lotions contain dihydroxyacetone, which reacts with the skin to create a bronzed appearance. In addition, bronzing lotions can contain other substances like amber extract, honey, walnut extract, panthenol, and vitamin E.

How to properly use body lotion & how often?

For best results, use twice a day—but if you can’t find the time to apply body lotion during your morning rush, apply it in the evening after bathing.

Apply from the bottom up. Really massage it in. This will moisturize and nourish the skin and stimulate blood circulation. What further helps its effectiveness, is exfoliating the skin at least once a week. Regular exfoliation will ensure that the lotion penetrates deeply.

During the fall and winter, it’s worth using lotions with a slightly thicker consistency than those used in the summer. What this does is provide the skin with better hydration, which is especially important in the colder months. Dry air from heaters quickly dries the epidermis, and lotions with a light consistency may not be able to properly moisturize it.

Only use slimming and anti-cellulite lotions in selected problem areas.

From time to time, it’s worth giving the skin maximum care by providing it with more nutrients and deeper nourishment than the typical everyday routine. This works best with a thick layer of lotion. This is robe time. You should avoid wearing your good clothes here.

After you apply moisturizer, wrap the area with cling wrap for about 20 minutes and cover yourself with a blanket. Feel your best corn on the cob vibes.

DIY body lotion

You can make body lotion by hand at home. A few simple ingredients with moisturizing and nourishing properties are enough to create a high-quality at-home lotion. Here is one recipe:

  • 1/2 cup of shea butter
  • 1/2 cup of coconut oil
  • 1/2 cup of olive oil
  • 10 drops of essential oil

Take all your ingredients, apart from the essential oil, and dissolve them in a water bath. You can easily make a water bath by preparing a bowl of hot water and placing a separate, smaller bowl with your ingredients into the bowl of hot water. This mimics what a double broiler would do without the hassle. Then let the mixture cool down. Once it starts to thicken, add the essential oil and mix again thoroughly, this time using a blender to make the mass fluffy.

Afterward, place it into a container to store it. Store this in the fridge if your normal room temperature is over 73 degrees Fahrenheit. Remember to always keep the cap tightly closed!
