First off, I want to say that I truly appreciate and support any young Black brother pursuing a career and following their passion. That being said, I... also believe in teachable moments. When I left the shop, I had a feeling that my cut wasn’t quite right, but it wasn’t until I got home that I really had a chance to take a closer look. My first recommendation is to listen carefully to your customer. When I sat in the chair, I specifically mentioned that because of my locs, I didn’t want my hairline touched. I asked for the enhancement to be applied and for the cut to stay below my hairline. Unfortunately, not only was my hairline cut into, but it ended up being extremely crooked. My second recommendation is to make better use of your mirror—it’s there for a reason. The right side of my beard looks okay, but the left side is completely different, and the enhancement doesn’t look fully applied or blended. I want to be clear that this message isn’t meant to tear you down or discourage you in any way. Instead, I hope you take this as an opportunity to refine your technique so that no one else has to leave the shop feeling the way I do. Unfortunately, there’s nothing that can be done to fix my hairline at this point—I’ll just have to wait for it to grow back. Additionally, I want to clarify that I’m not requesting a refund for either the service fee or the tip. My goal in reaching out is simply to provide honest feedback that can help improve future experiences for both you and your clients. Also, best practice is to inform your clients (especially new ones) that you are posting them to your social media. Wishing you the best as you continue to grow in your craft. Show more
