Today, I was searching for a barber with real skill—someone who notices the small imperfections, makes precise adjustments, and delivers a sharp, clea...n finish. Unfortunately, this experience fell short. The barber wasn’t overly talkative (which is fine), but the workmanship was lacking. In today’s standards, a proper tape-up should have crisp edges without visible lines, and blending should be seamless—neither of which was done. During the process, I was also slightly nicked on the face with the razor. The service was priced at $50, but based on the cut and facial I received, I’d value it closer to $10–$15. The facial technique also didn’t feel professional. I honestly recommend some time in barber school to refine shape-up and tape-up skills. Look at the photos and decide for yourself. For me, this was a 1-star experience, and my search for a truly sharp barber continues. Here’s a clean recommendation: A great school to learn blending and shaping techniques for haircuts is Westchester Barber Academy, located at 168 E 3rd St, Mt. Vernon, NY 10550. Call them 1 (914) 664-4960 "Please obtain the required barber license and stop operating without proper authorization." a person is operating as an unlicensed barber in New York City, they can face various penalties under both city and state laws. Fines: Operating a barber shop without a valid permit is a violation of NYC and NY State law and carries potential fines ranging from $200-$2000. Imprisonment: Upon conviction for a misdemeanor, a person could face imprisonment for up to six months. Reputation damage: Operating without a license can damage professional reputation, potentially impacting future opportunities to obtain a valid license or secure employment. Show more
