I have never thought I would walk out of a barbershop mid-haircut. I get a haircut every two weeks and recently relocated to Charleston looking for a ...new barber. I booked my appointment for 12:00 PM and still had to wait about 20 minutes while he finished someone else’s haircut, which I was fine with. But halfway through, the experience turned completely unprofessional. After I declined his suggestion to use a hair fiber spray, he started pointing at a part of my hairline and making jokes, getting the other barbers to laugh and gather around me. Then, assuming I didn’t understand Spanish, he said “turn your head, mamagü***” in front of his peers. That level of disrespect is unacceptable in any business. The owner was understanding and offered me a refund that I declined. He assured me he would take the right actions, which I appreciated. Still, this was one of the most unprofessional and disrespectful experiences I have ever had at a barbershop. Show more

I sincerely apology for the misunderstanding i would never refer to a client as such. My coworkers and i where in our own conversación in Spanish. It was never my intent to make you feel uncimfortable as you know i do not speak English well. I hope you can forgive the misunderstanding and come enjoy a complimentary cut.

My regular barber was out of town, and I needed a haircut before the weekend. I searched on Booksy and found Eli with an open appointment that fit my ...schedule. I arrived a bit early since the shop is across town, and was greeted warmly by Eli and the other barbers. He had me in the chair right away, asked for a reference photo, and absolutely nailed the cut. A quick note on the shop itself: it’s a remarkable place. People of different backgrounds, cultures, and languages all sharing one space, united by a love for their craft and a commitment to great service.
