Faux Locs

I’m not one who always writes bad reviews but this lady’s place broke my heart. I went in for Faux locs, which she described on her website to be $180... without any clarification of the length of braids. After sitting on that chair for 6+ hours she charged me $250 complaining that she used too much time because my skin was so sensitive and it’s not her fault so she had to do my hair slowly. I don’t mind paying $250 for a service but why a sudden change? Is it my fault that I have a sensitive skin on my head? Regardless telling them that my hair aches, the other lady who was helping her, kept pulling my hair carelessly and asking ‘It okay? It okay?’ I understand we are all trying to get the bag full, but the treatment I got at this place was unfair. And as if that was not enough they still added a whole $70 to the initial price. I left that place with tight locs and a bad headache, I had to take painkillers when I got home. I was so disappointed, and honestly I will NEVER be back at this place. This is the second time a Booksy appointment is charging me more than they say on their website. I really wish I stayed on my decision to cancel this appointment. I learned my lesson. I will just go back to my usual stylist. Show more

Thank you for your feedback. A 1-star rating feels pretty harsh base on your feedback, I want to explain a bit. Prices can change based on how full your hair is and how long you want it. In your case, your hair was fuller than usual, and the length you asked for was double the typical size. Noone here in Tacoma would agree on the price I charged you. I promise I wasn’t trying to rip you off; I believe my work is worth more than that. I know getting a service can be tough, especially if your skin is sensitive, and I tried my best to make sure you weren’t in pain. We started around 1:30 p.m. and finished around 10 p.m., it took a while because you preferred to go only with me instead of letting my coworker help. It struck me as funny when you said you felt treated unfairly since I was checking in with you every 10 to 15 minutes to see how you were doing and if it was too tight or not. I really want all my clients to leave happy and satisfied. I hope you find a place that suits you better next time. Thanks for your business!

I'm 3 years post chemicaI after a mini-chop and it's been almost 20 years since i've had my hair braided. I had been wanting to get my hair into a pro...tective style after lack of success finding the right products to keep it in twists (everything has left residue or made me look like I had dandruff) and was really nervous because no one has been in my hair besides my family and my beautician besides myself. I reached out to about 6 stylist based on word of mouth referrals from women I ran into around town for well over a year and only 1 stylist was ever responsive. I ended up not going with her because she didn't do the style I was interested in and the price was too high for what she did do. Almost a year later to the day on this journey; I took the leap and reached out to Sica and i'm glad I did! I was able to get in quick and the end result was gorgeous. It's been about 3 weeks and the boho braids are holding up well. The only thing I would advise someone looking to get this style specifically is to be prepared for the loose hair throughout the braids to knot. Based on research, this seem to be really common with this style, even with the best of care. Combing them out hasn't worked well, so i've had to cut a few out. Short of this, no complaints about the style, but I would suggest asking about care of whatever style you get if you've been out of the loop; something I neclected to do because of nerves. While the salon space is untraditional, it was a welcome throwback to the past for me during such a vulnerable time in my natural hair journey and I appreciated the quality, care, and attention to detail that I experienced at Sica; I highly reccomend them! OMG! She is AMAZING! I just got my hair done and I'm absolutely in LOVE with my new look. She did peekaboo Senegalese twists with green in the back -... professional in the front, party in the back! Not only is she incredibly talented, but she's also super professional and friendly. Her space is clean and comfortable, and she even let me choose what to watch on TV while she worked her magic.
