I got my hair done by Monique on Friday, the 28th, and unfortunately, I had an allergic reaction—either to the braiding hair or the gel she used. I’ve... had my hair done at least twice before without any issues, so I had no idea I was sensitive to these products. By Tuesday, the 1st, the itching had worsened, and I had to see a doctor for a solution. When I reached out to Monique to let her know what happened, her only suggestion was to wash my hair. As a returning client, I expected a bit more concern and guidance, considering that allergic reactions can happen. Not only did she fail to offer any real resolution, but she also didn’t provide a partial refund, a discount for a future style, or even a genuine sense of care. Instead, I was left feeling like it was just “my problem.” If you’re looking for a stylist who truly values their clients and stands behind their work, I’d recommend going elsewhere. Monique seems more focused on collecting payment than ensuring customer satisfaction. Of course, I didn’t want to waste $250—that’s a lot of money when a style doesn’t last more than a week that is supposed to last a month or more. At the end of the day, it’s clear that you care more about the money than the relations you have with a returning client. The screenshot clearly shows our conversation. I never asked for a discount on the style—you offered it yourself to encourage me to book with you. At no point did I send multiple messages insulting your character. This situation has gone beyond me, and it truly reflects who you are. I have the receipts to back it up. Show more

I’m sorry that you feel this way. Like you stated, you came to me a few times prior before and the same products and braiding hair were used. I don’t change my products unless a client requests it or notifies me of any allergic reactions were I would need to Accomadate them, which is also stated on my Booksy account or if a client chooses to provide their own hair or products for any reason. I rendered the requested service at a discounted rate because you asked me to. When you notified me of the allergic reaction it was suggested that you immediately wash your hair to rid of any products that may have caused you any allergic reaction. However, you decided you didn’t want to wash it because you didn't want to mess up the style! Before I could offer a solution for you after the wash was complete I received numerous messages insulating my character. My clients are always my top priority and it’s unfortunate that you state you won’t be booking again. I wish you the best with your future endeavors. Please don't forget to advise your new stylist of any allergies.
