Military/Law Enforcement (NO BEARD)

I had my haircut by over 30 different barbers in my lifetime. From New York to California because I travel a lot mostly due to the military and my bus...iness. I book an appointment and showed up on time after waiting 15 minutes with no complaints I sat down in the chair. I asked for a low taper-fade all around and he said “so essentially you want 2 haircuts”. I laughed it off and said no that’s not what I meant. He turns around and said “ you know what I can’t service you, I can’t give you what you need, good luck finding another barber”. Not knowing if he’s serious or not I got up and smiled. The funny thing is that he was serious. I’ve never experienced this in my life. To Caveat, a consumer wouldn’t give a poor rating for honesty. It’s the time wasted that could’ve been saved going to a more capable barber who is more professional in his craft, like stating before I’m in the military and run a business where both situations create a need to have time management. It would’ve been very professional to deny the appointment and give reasons why over the phone, then I wouldn’t have posted a review at all because no service is rendered and no time is wasted. Like I’ve emphasized, the request was a low taper fade all around and a shape up. And when I repeated that request to the next barber they gave me an exceptional haircut. And no not all Barbers in Tucson suck, just some are more capable and professional craftsmen then others. And one more thing this was the third time going to him and my request has been the same… like I stated before time wasted and having to scramble for another barber is not good Show more

This is the difficult part about being a professional barber or any profession in the service industry. We are expected to deal with a client that doesn’t know what they want but will convey that the “barbers suck in Tucson and they don’t know what they are doing before you have even cut their hair.” No one should work under such disrespect prior to a haircut! My 200+ 5 star reviews speak to my capability, professionalism, and commitment to my craft that I’ve earned. I wouldn’t know the that expectations are unreasonable until myself and the client have discussed his desired haircut. There is no way to call someone prior to knowing what their haircut expectations are. No matter how many times I have cut a clients hair I would need to confirm the desired look. I told this client after that process that “I feel I can not meet his expectations.” I should be able to deny services respectfully. I told this client I don’t feel like I can achieve what he is looking for. I also offered a solution to use another barber in the shop. Both of our times were wasted in this process so we both loss. Why is that a problem? Why should I be condemned to a bad review for being honest and transparent? We can see this client is purely upset that he didn’t get what he wants so he attacks me through this review. He was not disrespected and was given solutions to rectify this situations. What more can I do?
