DO NOT TAKE YOUR CHILDREN TO HER! she cut my son not once but FOUR times. She called him a crybaby, she wouldn’t stop pulling and cutting his hair whe...n he started moving and even said stop, I had to tell her he’s done! I asked for a fade on the side she did not do that at all!! My son was crying when we left, she even told us she was “ done with us”. I am angry and disgusted! Show more

What was supposed to be a great starter loc experience turned into a nightmare after Michelle getting frustrated that my hair wasn’t loc’ing quick eno...ugh. Being told she’ll have to start charging me for a starter loc session instead of a retwist. First, I was told by Michelle herself that everyone’s loc journey will be different. Do not compare yours to others. Sitting in her chair, I couldn’t even get past, “They Say”, when I tried explaining that my hair might just take longer. Here, on the review section, you do have a voice uninterrupted and I will use it. My head after this session is still tender from her yanking and ripping out chunks of my hair that “wasn’t starting to loc” because according to her, and I quote, “I don’t know who did these parts but it sure wasn’t me” I haven’t been to any other shop and so I sure didn’t part them myself. The only thing I did to my hair was cut the back as I have the back and sides cut because people noticed she wasn’t doing that correctly either. So not only could she not find her parts but she re parted them differently, changing my brick pattern into random parts. Then accused someone else of parting them previously instead owing up to the FACT that she messed up. It was the disrespect, the accusing me of doing things to prevent my hair from loc’ing when she scrubs my head in the bowl every re-twist. Well, of course they will come undone if you rough them in the bowl like that. I was told if I wanted to listen to “them” I could have “them” do my hair. So, I will! There is a level of unprofessionalism, and although she attempted to regain professionalism toward the end, the damage was already done. This is a spiritual journey for me, not a hairstyle. And that journey must now be started over due to someone who can’t take constructive criticism and learn how to loc ALL types of hair maintaining respect and professionalism, even during frustrating moments. Oh and not to forget that she wanted to do two strand twists on my hair because they weren’t “loc’ing” fast enough. That’s a different style which I wasn’t even asked first if I wanted to switch over from comb coils. Capitalism has done a number on our people even those who identify as white. Why didn’t I leave? Well it wasn’t until the retwist was underway and half way when she started yanking out my already “unlocked” hair, that these events occurred. Which afterwards, spritz, was added to my hair. Not even sure if that’s going to add more damage but, I always keep my receipts for court. Finally, when I asked how much I owed her after the session, I was charged 70. The app tells me 65, but I guess she ended up getting a tip out of me anyway for unprofessionalism! 👍🏾 Show more

Very rude not pleasant at all. Michelle told me 101 ways that both my daughter’s hair was damaged and needed to be cut off and they are natural she sa...id they needed relaxers. We came for a silk press and trim and she did a great job for it to be so “damaged” … anyways after the hair appointment I took them to a hairstylist that I normally go to, and she did a free consolation, and she told me that their hair was not damaged and adding relaxers would cause damage etc etc and that it looked fine. The only reason why I went to Michelle from the start for my daughters is because Michelle was much cheaper but from my experience I will no longer take the cheaper route. She really did a great job on their silk press and trim but I will never return to her her attitude was unprofessional. Show more

Michelle is timely, effecient, funny and most importantly, extremely compitent and knowledgeable regarding black hair. With over 20 years of hairstyle... knowledge, she crafts her own proprietary products from scratch and can heal your hair and scalp. My regular braided a took 3-4 hours to do my hair. She was able to do it in 90mins and charged almost half of what my previous stylist charged. I’ve found my new corn roller. She is the Obi Juan Kinobe of curly hair. I dub her the Hair Guru. While I’m in Indiana, no one else still touch my head, except Michelle. And one day, she WILL try my Cacao smoothie. Show more
