wish i could give 0 stars. i’ve had locs for 8 years and wanted to redo my pattern and start fresh. she completely cut off my previous locs, which was... fine because that’s what i wanted. however, she used low-quality synthetic hair that started coming out within 4 days. it’s been 2 months and she has shown no urgency in making it right or handling the situation. the replacement hair she ordered ended up coming in the wrong size, and when i reached out about what we should do next, her only suggestion was for me to buy $1,000 worth of hair she found on instagram that she has no prior experience working with. this is after i already paid her $775, not including the cost of the synthetic hair she previously installed. expecting me to spend another $1,000 experimenting with hair she hasn’t even worked with before is ridiculous. now i have to find an actual professional who knows what they’re doing, and i’m stuck walking around looking crazy for at least another 2 weeks with this poor-quality synthetic hair from a retwist that doesn’t even match AA hair at all. the most frustrating part is the complete lack of care, urgency, or effort to make the situation right. i trusted her with my hair after having my locs for 8 years, and i gave her multiple opportunities to come up with a reasonable solution. the quality of the work was disappointing enough, but the way the situation has been handled afterward made the experience even worse.

Hi AJ, I’m sorry you feel this way about your experience. I do want to clarify some important details, as there is more context to the situation than what is presented here. Five days after your appointment, you contacted me stating that you had experienced an allergic reaction to the hair. Once you brought this to my attention, I offered you a free reinstall as a way to help resolve the situation, even though the hair itself was not supplied or manufactured by me. The original hair was hair that you wanted to move forward with. I also personally went back and forth with the vendor regarding the quality of the hair, and the vendor maintained that the hair was real. I did not knowingly use or provide “low-quality synthetic hair.” When replacement hair became part of the conversation, the hair ordered came in the wrong size, and I continued trying to find a solution. I was also told by you that the situation was not urgent, so I responded based on the urgency communicated to me. I understand you are unhappy with the outcome, but I don’t believe it is fair to characterize the situation as a “complete lack of care, urgency, or effort” when I communicated with you, contacted the vendors, offered a complimentary reinstall, and made efforts to always find a resolution
