I’ve been getting my haircut by Joey for about two years now and I’m very picky when it comes to my hair. Joey and all the barbers at Mavericks are ex...tremely talented and organized, and the shop is always clean. Since moving, I drive about an hour to get my haircut by Joey because he is second to none. Show more
Fired me as a customer of his for over 5 years at 1 cut every 3 weeks, for letting him know I would be 15 minutes late to an appointment. Absolutely 0....00 leniency for any deviation in his schedule. Yes, it's Christmas. Yes, I knew it would be tight. I tried my best to make it on time but could not. Joey then proceeds to send me paragraphs like the below. I am one of a half dozen people that I know of, who have had this shared experience, where they have been delayed and have been "fired." Be sure to ask about the cancellation policy. Good luck. ❌️ Texted me 15 minutes before my appointment at 11 a.m., letting me know he was ready early, and could I come early, knowing very well my situation already. (Fishing for a cancellation fee 🤷‍♂️) ❌️ Told him the situation a day prior ❌️ canceled my appointment after 10 mins and fired me as a customer ❌️ couldn't take the next customer early and put me behind? If you want a self-absorbed, inconsiderate barber. He's the barber for you 👍🫡 Merry Christmas! Show more

No showed the Sat before Christmas ✅ When I called to see where he was, didn’t answer but texted “what’s up” (at time of appt)✅ When I told him that If he was any later than 10 min I could only give him a cleanup told me he deserved more leeway (meaning I should make every client following him wait) ✅ Tried to move his appt the day before but when there was no availability said he would make it work knowing that was, in fact, not true and he wouldn’t be able to make it work no matter what ✅ No show, no call, no apology, no barber ✅✅✅ Wrote not one, but TWO five star reviews previously and removed them after he was told not to come back✅ If you are this kind of client mavericks is not for you. Joey is top notch! As a matter of fact I’d say his talent is unmatched in SoFlo! Always keeps me looking fresh and his shop is clean as a whistle! ...Thanks for always keeping me looking my best. Joe. The man. He’s quick with it, he’ll hand me an adult beverage, tell me about how much he lost on horse racing, and make me feel like a million buc...ks. I’ve lived in south Florida for 33 years, and I have to move soon, so I was compelled to tell the world.. go visit these guys if you want a great hair cut. The atmosphere reminds me of what a good barbershop should be. At the time of writing this, they’re moving shops, but I’ll be back. Good guys, good tunes, good service, good shop. Show more
if there was a way to give more than five stars, I absolutely would! I reached out as a first time client based on the reviews and photos I found abou...t Joey and Maverick’s barbershop, falling perfectly in line with what I was looking for: someone who had precision scissors skills. I have worn a short textured pixie cut for over 30 years. I have gone to everything from Short Hair “masters” and and well known stylists and never have come close to the phenomenal cut I got from Joey. More than his incredible skills, was the amazing customer service. I reached out for an appointment and indicated that the following day was my birthday and I was hoping for an appointment sooner than later. Immediately his wife answered and booked me the following day. I found out after the fact that they normally don’t book at the time slot they gave me, but he made an exception for me as a first-time client and I cannot tell you enough words how appreciative I was that he did that for me. The entire time in the chair, Joey listened, but moreso he explained in detail every step of the way, the entire process not only what he was doing, but why. Joey has a wonderful personality, and his wife was so kind and sweet and accommodating that there are not enough good things I can say about Mavericks. I walked out of the Salon with such a huge smile on my face as you can clearly see in the picture! It’s one thing for people to complement you on a great haircut but when you actually feel beautiful when you look in the mirror, that’s priceless! Thank you Joey and the Mavericks team. Show more
