The owner of the shop greeted me upon arriving at the shop, which I found very professional. He asked if I was walking in or had an appointment. I sta...ted that I had an appointment with Ethan, and he informed Ethan I was there for him. This was my first appointment with Ethan and at this shop. Ethan was cutting someone else’s hair at the time, as I was early for my appointment, and he walked over to introduce himself and to let me know how much longer he would be. I was really impressed with the level of hospitality at this time. Once I got in the chair, Ethan made conversation, which was cool. However, during the conversation, Ethan (a non-Black person) said the n-word, which turned me completely off. The barber (who is also a non-Black person) next to him also said the n-word multiple times . It was really disheartening and distasteful. The establishment was clean. The haircut was great. If it wasn’t for Ethan saying the n-word, I would have become a returning client. I hope these individuals enhance their social awareness and the harm it causes when non-Black people say the n-word, especially around Black people, which I am a Black man. Show more
