I walked into Zaps Barber Shop expecting a haircut. What I got instead was a life experience delivered by James and Jorge — the Michelangelo and Da Vi...nci of fades, but with more jokes and fewer Renaissance outfits. Jorge greeted me like I was royalty, which is wild because I’m pretty sure I looked like a castaway who’d been living on an island with only a comb made of driftwood. He studied my head like he was solving a Nobel Prize–winning equation and said, “Yeah, we can fix this.” Confidence level: surgeon. Results: immaculate. Then there’s James — the man trims beards with the precision of a NASA engineer stabilizing a rocket. Mid-cut he told a joke so good I almost shook my head, which would’ve ended badly, but luckily his reflexes are elite. My beard is now so crisp that strangers nod at me like I’m running for office. By the time they were done, I had a fade so clean it created a small breeze when I turned my head. I left looking like a man who has his whole life together — taxes filed early, hydration levels perfect, car always clean. None of it’s true, but the haircut lies FOR me. If you want a cut, a comedy show, and borderline spiritual enlightenment, go see James and Jorge at Zaps. Just be warned: once you go here, your old barber will feel like using safety scissors in the dark. 11/10, would get transformed again. Show more
