This was my first time coming here. I saw Instagram pictures of some of their hairstyles and contacted the person on there. I was a bit nervous becaus...e there weren't any reviews of the place but the prices seem reasonable and the photos appeared nice. I am happy I went here. I had my hair done by a nice middle-aged African woman. She takes pride in her work so took out some twists that weren't to her standard to redo them. She likes to make them super neat so she does use scissors, a lighter, and hot water to accomplish this (these are pretty standard techniques but if you' don't like fire or scissors you can easily tell her to skip this and just dip the twists in hot water). She and her daughter are very nice. I felt at home coming here. The place is clean and in a good area. There were no surprises with prices since I spoke to someone from the shop on Instagram. I am very happy that I found this place and will keep coming here for twists and braids while I am in New Haven. P.S. I usually don't write reviews but felt compelled to after asking my classmates who does braids in New Haven and all of them telling me to go to NYC. I don't trust places without pictures as I got my hair messed up in Brooklyn when I did that. I'm surprised this nice, family shop has no reviews so wanted to add one so people know there is a good option in New Haven for twists and braids. Show more
