I had a wonderful experience at Soraya's House of Beauty today. The stylist was patient and diligent. The location is easy to find. The stylists wore mask. I am going to be visiting again in the near future....

My knotless braids came out excellent - neat & lightweight and I was provided awesome service by Fatou. My only reasoning why I rate the salon and overall experience a 3 is due to the below: 1) We are now in Covid times - As someone who works in the... public health sector I was a bit surprised to see so many staff and salon patrons come in without masks or not wearing them properly - despite a sign at the door saying “Masks Required.” You are standing over individuals and carrying on with conversations with no social distancing taking place and increase chances/risk of infection. I had to ask where is everyone’s masks? This policy should be taken more seriously especially for customers who are vulnerable or are around family members that are. Its also simply a sign of respect. 2) Please ask a paying customer if they would like multiple staff to be doing their hair at once. I understand braiding takes time and effort, but as a paying customer, who cares for her hair a great deal, I was never asked if I wanted 3 people tugging at my hair at once. Avoid this without a customer having to come across as rude by simply asking if its ok. 3) Sanitation - The salon gets a B- in cleanliness as I didn’t see combs being sanitized in barbicide or even have sterilization stations present. Staff also do not take time to wash hands prior to fondling with your hair. More attention is needed in this area. Unsure if I will come again, but again the above does not reflect in anyway on my stylist Fatou. She was professional, kept her mask on, and timely.

Very friendly and clean place, very professional booking appointments. Did a great job doing my hair. I would recommend others to them because they really do good work. I am pleased with my hair, love it. You have a faithful customer I will be coming... back to get my hair done

Fatima is amazing !!! I was skeptical at first but she showed out and did an amazing job on my hair ! I will definitely be back and I would recommend her to anybody who’s in need of getting their hair braided ! Let’s not forget her energy was amazin...g and she was super sweet

This was a great experience the ladies are sooo very nice and efficient. I have very short hair like 2 1/2 inches long. I wanted micro braids with square parts and they gave me exactly what I wanted. They were so gentle. I had to have 3 people in my ...hair that night and they all made sure my hair was absolutely perfect. I am so happy with my results. I feel like a princess.

I saw a look on the shop's Instagram account that I liked and was excited to try. I originally booked the appointment on Style Seat, but it was going to charge me $160 plus a 20% tip before I'd even visited the shop, so I cancelled the appointment an...d booked it on Booksy since it was free. The owner called me to confirm the appointment and told me that the woman who was going to do my hair would go buy the hair with me. I was excited because I thought that meant the spring twists were going to look exactly like in the picture. We went to three different shops to find the hair and then she had to ask someone who worked there how many packs to buy. That should have been the first sign that she had never done the style before. I paid $42 for six packs of hair. Then when we got back to the shop the owner asked me how much I wanted to spend and told me I had to pay in advance. Since I had booked the appointment on Style Seat, I said $160. This is more than I would spend elsewhere, but I was hopeful that it would look like the picture on their Instagram. As soon as the woman started doing my hair, I knew something was off. The twists were bigger than in the picture and they weren't curling properly. When I said something, she said it wasn't going to look like the picture because the style in the picture was done with human hair. If we were going to the beauty supply together, why wouldn't we get the exact hair? We also had 4 extra packs and the store didn't do returns! $27 wasted. I also saw on a sign when I was exiting that Kinky Twists cost $100. Why would different twists be $60 more? In the end, my hair isn't bad. It's just not what I expected/paid for and was too expensive to not be right.

Got charged more than was listed on this site. Very sure I got overcharged but wanted to try the place. She was also slightly rude about the price. Almost sent me away despite the appointment. Dropped tools and were not swapped out for clean combs/to...ols. Someone needs to sweep more often than they do. when asked about how tight she only said “I know” but did little to fix/accommodate me. Hopefully they last for a long time (damage free) for the price I paid (unfairly in my opinion).
