This review is regarding the total experience, not just the skill of the barber. First, the appointment was for 9. I received a request to move it to ...9:30. Fine. He wasn't quite ready when we arrived but it's the Friday before Easter, so grace was given. He was ready within 10 minutes though. I'd booked a speciality kid's cut. Admittedly my son's hair was very long (mid back). I was informed his hair would need to be washed and there would be an upcharge for the length. What would have been helpful would have been to know what the upcharge would be but ok... fine. I asked if I could sit in an empty chair because it had been a couple of years since his last hair cut. My son isn't the happiest about having his hair groomed (which is why it was being cut). I was told it's not allowed while I'm looking directly at another mother sitting in an empty chair. Knowing that I was irritated with the time issue, I just sat down in the waiting area. In the end, it was $75 for a children's haircut. While the haircut is better than most I've seen in KC, I don't know if it is worth $75. I will say that it did include a wash and blow dry. I just viewed it as $30 for the wash/dry to rationalize it in my mind. Pros: G did take time to look at his hair and assess the health and if the requested style made sense. This isn't typical for barbers. 2) he asked me and confirmed with my son about the style 3) he did take the time to wash and dry his hair 4) even though it was clearly a busy day, he didn't rush 5)the shop is exceptionally well maintained 6) my son did enjoy the wash Suggestions (hence 2 stars deduction): 1) the music was loud and explicit even for a barber shop. If there is an option for "family friendly" times, that could be helpful 2) when there's an upcharge, say what it will be. I was going to pay it and believe most people will if they know what it is. It avoids sticker shock 3) open the possibility of new clients sending a photo before the appointment to have a better idea of if additional services/charges would be needed Overall, the work is great. I would return, perhaps on a slower, non holiday weekend day. Show more

My son is 10 and has had hair since birth. After 6 years loc’d he finally wanted to make a change. Of course I had to bring him to the best barber in ...town! If I could give Greg 10 stars then I would. He guided my son so patiently through his first haircut. After my son saw his cut for the first time he couldn’t stop smiling.
