I went in for a cut with multiple pictures and came out looking nothing like the photos. I had hair down to my shoulders and somehow exited with a pix...ie cut (I never used this word and wasn't even sure what it meant) when I showed photos of haircuts shaped around the ears and asked it to be blended to my old undercut. I even thought we agreed on bangs at my cheekbones and hair down to cover my neck. While the bangs portion looks nice (which I could have just chopped some myself at that point), nothing else does. I did tell her I used to go to a barber, but I went to a cosmo because I wanted a long short hair cut. Being gender non conforming and having little control over how I wish my body was, my hair is a huge part of my own identity and one of the only things I CAN control. I can't even express how devastated this hair cut is to my life and identity, and for someone like me with dysphoria, it made me not want to live if I have to look like this and I have no idea how I am going to make it through 2024, looking in the mirror and seeing an ugly person I don't even recognize. I am not sure where the communication breakdown went and I have ordered hats, headbands, and any hair growth remedies that might work. It took me almost 18 months to get that length and my life feels ruined since it is my job to speak in front of people. Show more

I have done it 2x before but I always get nervous about regrettin...g my new short hair, and I’ve had the thought of “I’m never cutting my hair this short again”. However, after my experience with Melissa, my perspective on short hair has totally changed. She listened to my wants and considered my typical routine and provided a great cut that really fit my style. Even though English is not my first language, communication was great! She totally understood what I wanted and gave me the best haircut I’ve had since moving to the Bay Area. Not only that that but afterwards she resolved all my questions about hair care and how to be able to style my hair on my own and recommended products without pushing me to buy them.
