I sought out a professional that did good work on pixie cuts and i found her.she did a great job! Salon was clean, ambiance was soft n melo.The intera...ction with Ms.Althea is another matter.She is a very authoritarian women.Did not get a hello,how are you,how far did you drive to come see me pleasantries NONE! client let me in the shop,I ask by shouting out my appt time across the room to her she proceeds to talk to you in one word commands > where to lay your purse-HERE, GO WASH YOUR HANDS, im like..excuse me? WASH HANDS! after where to sit & wait-SIT you need ipod your phone volume too high.GET UP,sit at the washer,DONT fold your legs, DONT grab the towel around your neck .All very "militant" Bedside manner non existent!.I can spark a convo with anyone but this Mrs.Ma'am ice was rock solid,no breaking it.She was my backup bcuz my regular hairstylist was off & i drove a good 1hr & 9 min to see her,and like i stated i look gorge! she gave me a great cut and style,but it would never feel compelled to drive all that way to be styled with a women with no personality, whom probably has had bad experiences with prior clients & now treats new clients like i'm ready to run out on the bill and not pay her. It doesn't hurt or take extra time out of your day to converse on a superficial level with a new client whose driven all that way & admires your work-could have gone to anyone else in closer proximity but chose her service..This plays into the part where people say "good customer service" goes along way. I actually laffed to myself at one point bcuz i was like, is she for real? Im I in salon boot camp? I'm a grown ass women an I was afraid to eat my snacks in fear she would curse me out for eating in her shop! that was the atmosphere!. She needs bedside manner classes 101. I dont think thats asking for much. some of you ladies might say she's about her coins & doesn't care about small talk,but if you know,yall know how much pixies and platinum pixies cost (i get them often) and i left never to return to spend them "coins" on her. I am not the one to leave a bad review but in this case I feel compelled to do so. I would rate Althea a zero if I could. I followed this lady on In...stagram for months and was impressed with her work. I finally decided that I wanted to get a pixie haircut and decided to reach out to her. I scheduled a via phone consultation on Booksy in which I had to make an $25.00 down payment. The consultation fee was about $40. My consultation appointment was at 10 a.m. - 10:15 a.m. The day of my consultation I was waiting for her to call me. I waited until 10:05, still did not receive a phone call, so I decided to call her. When I called her I told her that I had a consultation with her today. She was not even aware that she had this appointment with me. She abruptly told me that I need to cash app her the remaining money and then she will call me back. I had no idea that I needed to do so and she never explained that to me. After I CashAPP her, a few minutes later she called me back. I explained to her that I was looking to get a pixie haircut and that I had short natural hair that was dyed blonde. She quickly responded no I don’t think that could be done because I had the blonde in my hair and she has to perm my hair for the pixie haircut. She asked me if I had new growth and I told her yes. She told me I needed to send her pictures. And she will call me back after she received them. I sent her different angle head shots. She called me and told me those weren’t good she needed to see my face. I asked her why would you need to see my face. She was like this is a consultation and she needed to know who she is working with. I found that very strange that I needed to send a picture of my face but whatever. I resent the pics with my face. She then called me back. She said I see you have new growths so I would be able to get the pixie. I said to her, so it can be done she said yes. She then told me to send her 3 haircuts that I like and she would let me know which would be possible to do. I sent her the three pics of the haircuts that liked. She never called me back. I text her to asked if she received them she never responded. First of all I was not feeling her vibes when I first spoke with her but I continued to engage in a conversation with her. She was not friendly and she was very abrupt. I was not trying to judge her initially but my instincts were right. How could you take a persons deposit, and not provide the service. She told me that she would be able to do my hair. Then she ghosted me. That is so unprofessional and unethical. People like that she not run a business. Everything happens for a reason. She can keep the consultation money. I might have went to her salon and be traumatized like one of the reviewers stated. I believe I dogged a bullet. Show more

I really like my experience at this salon. She’s excellent with the scissors (I have a short haircut). I’ve been going for 3 or 4 months. My hair is ...very healthy (thanks to this skilled stylist). The stylist has good systems and structures for how she services her clients. She’s very organized. In addition to that, her shop is clean (and all clients must wash their hands upon arrival). Upon my arrival I wasn’t sure I had the correct address. I rang the bell and well Althea answered the door and asked me to state my name. I had my ini...tials on my profile and was asked to change it which I did and take photos of my entire head and picture ID. I was washed right away and curled to beautifully. I was entertained with her daughter & college life. The salon was bright & inviting and well Althea had a set of rules that well let’s just say you would want to abide by.
