My hair is shoulder length so I was supposed to be charged $105 for a shoulder length silk press (as is stated on the website). However, while doing m...y hair, Rhoni charged me an extra $20 because "my hair is thick". This "thickness" fee was not before stated anywhere on the website. Additionally, I was 20 minutes late due to extenuating circumstances, and the appointment ran 30 minutes past the 8pm closing time of the salon. The owner of the salon charged Rhoni $1 for every minute past closing that she was still doing hair, which Rhoni charged me to compensate. So in the end, Rhoni charged an extra $30 for doing my hair 30 minutes past 8pm. All that I ask is for this late policy to be clearly stated on the website so that it is not a surprise fee. In the end, Rhoni charged me $155 for what was supposed to be a $105 silk press. As seen in the image below (taken right after getting my hair done), my hair is clearly shoulder length (not anywhere near mid back length). None of the additional fees (thickness and late fees) were stated before starting my hair. If one is to be charged more based on the thickness of their hair, and not just the length, this should be stated on the website beforehand. Show more

I apologize for the inherent misunderstanding. Knappy By Nature' s fees are are either fixed or starting fees. For this service the fee is a starting fee. Because this client was a first time client, this was the first time I was able to accessed their hair. As the client stated, they booked to have shoulder length hair done; their hair was actually 7 inches past the shoulders an inch from mid back. Mid back fees start at $125. The clients hair was almost triple the thickness of a normal head of hair. The additional costs where explained before we began the service; this client agreed. As a measure of good faith, I gave the client a long overdue, complimentary $30 hair cut, at no extra charge. This is a first time, unfortunate and sorrowful occurrence. . . .

All in all, we are so thrilled to find Rhoni. The photos show the damage that we are working through as a result of improper care from previous stylis...ts. My daughter’s hair was never this long - ever in her life. And Rhoni is helping her understand how to brush and protect it so she can grow it longer. It’s getting healthier each visit. Here are just a few things that make her amazing: Patient! Her patience in explaining how and why to care for my daughter’s hair TO MY daughter (who is now 11) has been incredible as it has empowered my daughter to take pride in how she cares for her hair AND love her mixed hair. Pain free! To help my daughter achieve the “long hair” she’s wanting, Rhoni has introduced my daughter to braids. Before my daughter didn’t want braids because they hurt. Rhoni’s are tight but not painful. Her approach has helped my daughter find braid styles that work for sports, feel stylish and last more that 1 week - without water exposure. (My daughter likes baths and showers so keeping them dry has been a challenge - even with shower caps, etc. .) Personable! My daughter loves how Rhoni talks with her - like an adult - and helps her achieve her hair goals. We first started going to Rhoni when she was 10 and the other hairstylists were good but my daughter didn’t feel completely comfortable sharing her desires. Not the case with Rhoni.
