Dr. Jim Overton is an excellent mentor and college consultant who got each of my twins into their #1 college. Embarking on this journey with his help,... they began preparing about a year out from the time their acceptance letters came in, as both of my children chose to Early Decision to their top school. Scheduling hour-long zoom calls with him weekly, they effectively covered the necessary details about the academics, requirements, and test scores desired by each school. His experience removed my kids’ need to worry about how they will fit into each university, because he took the time to understand their interests, passions, and skills. Additionally, taking a few months to select a top 10 list, Dr. Overton explained the details of the college admission process and how to competitively construct a resume, cover letter for teacher recommendations, and the common application itself. Most critically, he helped each of my boys with their college essays, suggesting the most effective ways to create a strong and unique piece of writing for each school. Dr. Jim Overton took the stress and hassle out of the college application process, allowing my twins to submit powerful applications to their top schools while still keeping to their high school priorities. We are very thankful for his expertise and guidance!

I am absolutely delighted that both Misha and Vova were admitted into their first choice colleges. Of course, their application success is really due to their determination, diligence and commitment to the work that they had to do. Along the way they were able to clearly show how they were ideal candidates for admission for their first choice schools. I know that more success lies ahead for both of them.

Your rising junior needs Dr. Overton! I can’t say enough good things about the value of Dr. Overton’s service. He empowers the student by having them ...be responsible for college research and helps them realize things about themselves to then encourage them to hone in what their interests and major may be, if they don’t already know. The student then has more confidence to do their own research of their interests/major of a more culled list of colleges that Dr. O has pointed them to.

The interviews were a lot easier than I expected. It was a very relaxed and informative weekend, and all of the faculty and students were very kind. I...t definitely helped me see the school from a better perspective. The luncheon was not required (you didn’t even sit with faculty). I think the most important part was the interviews.

Dr. Overton has done a great job at assisting me through the college application process. He helped me create a list of colleges that I am interested ...in based on what I want in a college. He also was a great essay reviewer and helped me make edits on my essays. He did this and more with lots of flexibility on when he could meet, which was really helpful since I have a lot of schoolwork and sports that make my availability limited.
