Short Hair Cut Highlights Partial

I have been going to this salon since I moved here 8 years ago. The stylist has almost always been different, but that was never a problem because the...y all did a great job. But not this time. I originally made my appointment based on reviews I read (for Tina) but then got emails saying my appointment was changed. When I called, she didn’t know why but that I was moved to another stylist, Suren. Made no difference to me so I said it was okay. I made the appointment for a partial highlight and a short hair cut (a trim really but that’s not an option). When I met Suren I said I wanted light blonde and honey blonde highlights and showed him reference pictures. He went to go mix color, came back and started. He did a method I’ve never had done before in my 15 years of getting highlights. He took sections and blowed dried the baby hairs away and added the dye to the remaining hair of that section. I thought this was interesting so I was excited to see how it would turn out. After getting my hair washed and getting back to the chair I was SHOCKED to see my whole head had been bleached. I am a natural Scandinavian blonde and have never had so much of my hair bleached. I told him I was scared and that this was way lighter than I wanted and practically my whole head. He said that he wasn’t done and still needed to do a toner. Again, never had highlights done this way. I thought he was adding the colors originally based on what I asked for and showed him. I would never allowed him to BLEACH my hair! He then handed me a book of swatches where I overwhelming had to try and choose a color close to what I asked for. He then took a dye that was close to natural color and added it to my roots saying it was to blend better? Then after toning and washing again, I was apparently done and couldn’t tell because I saw no highlights. I went in wanting to lighten up and now it was darker. When I went to pay he starts quoting me $375. I said there is no way and he points to the price list menu saying “a balayage starts at $325”. A what?! I said I wanted partial highlights. He said no that I did full highlights which is what he did (after basically just saying he did a balayage). Confirming on my booking he says he read it wrong. My booking confirmation said it would be about $218. He also pointed out that he’s a “master stylist” which is more expensive. I did NOT ask for a master stylist, I originally booked with a regular stylist. And I had no idea he was a master stylist. The manager came over and offered his help, and after looking at my booking amount and the price list he says “oh so you’re getting a really good deal”. No, I’m not. I spent almost 5 hours in the chair for something I didn’t ask for and now having to pay more than planned. I wanted to leave because I was upset so I said I’ll do $250 at the most. I tipped when I really shouldn’t have but felt pressured at that point because he was clearly not happy that he wasn’t going to be getting that much money out of it. I have never been so upset after getting my hair done. My originally healthy natural blonde hair is now dry and damaged with no highlights and an ashy tone, which I told him I didn’t like ashy when he asked. I will NEVER come back here again. Definitely be careful on who your stylist is. I cannot express how much I wish I never allowed the change of stylists to Suren. Show more

She did such amazing work and the blow out she gave me looked incredible! I'll definitely be coming back to her for haircuts and blow outs in the future. While good with communication. I had to push my appointment time over an hour due to the client before me taking more time than the stylist estimated.... Then the layers I received were chunky and not well blended, as I discovered when I got home and washed my hair myself. She also never gave me a mirror to look at the back of my hair, otherwise I would have gotten her to correct it then. I’m going to give her a chance to correct it, but so far not thrilled. Show more
