Great experience with Tee, this was my second time getting my locs retwisted with Tee along with a haircut. The environment set at the location is won...derful you can tell that all of the folks that work at the location have a great bond that makes for a comfortable and welcoming environment. When you walk into the shop your ears will be greeted by the a large conversation happening in the room and your eyes will be greeted with a well kept shop. The space is filled with customers of all ages and ethnic identities. As one who usually talks very little while in a shop, I was fond that while there are conversations happening in the room the volume does make it important for me to disappear into my book. The session starts with my locs being washed before they are retwisted. Since Tee knows that I prefer to read she leaves my arms free to hold my book so I can read while she masterfully retwists my hair. While she is working she twisted such that I am not grimacing in pain due to the tightness of the locs, yet the tightness holds the locs in place like a grandmother’s hands in prayer. Following the retwist I am then placed underneath the dryer where the warmth of the air dries my hair and the coolness of the well air conditioned room keeps my body at a comfortable temperature. Finally after coming from under the dryer, Tee cuts my hair and trims my beard as though she is a sculptor removing all that which will draw away from the shape and structure of a master piece. Then she hands me a mirror and I look at the reflection and am satisfied with my investment in Black art. I would highly recommend Tee as a stylist and the shop as a whole for those looking for a barber and a welcoming environment. Show more
