it was not a very good first time massage experience. Not at all what I expected. I didn’t not expect it to be in somebody’s personal home, it also l...eft me smelling like cats. Not very communicative or friendly. I noted that I was there to get relief from pain for a medical related issue. Her first question is what are we seeing you for today? So I explained to her again my medical issues. I told her this was my first massage and I didn’t know what to expect so I had questions. Then when I asked questions she was basically unwilling to comment and converse. I apologized for asking too many questions (because I could tell she was irritated with me) she just laughed at me making me feel very uncomfortable. Not something that made me feel less tense while getting a deep tissue massage in a vulnerable state of undress. I will not return or recommend. To add, towards the end of the session, she said I can’t get everything in today, you will need to book a 90 minute session for that. I felt pressured to leave her a tip since she asked me for one and then rolled her eyes at my tip price. Then was irritated that I couldn’t get the door open due to my pain and she seemed irritated as I was apologizing the whole way out because another client was knocking at her door before my session was over.

I had a deep tissue massage yesterday with Mia. She gave an excellent overall massage while still focusing on two specific areas -- neck stiffness an...d an irritated hip muscle.. She took time and thoroughly addressed my issues. My neck is turning better today, and the hip is improved. MIa's therapy sessions are in a dedicated room in her house which I'm sure keeps her overhead down and allows her charge rates that are significantly less than other massage therapists. Massage by Mia offers an excellent service with quality and great price. Mia welcomed me at the door inside. Mia also asked me questions about what ne...eded attention the most. The heated massage table is very pleasant and it all is very clean. Now the massage was amazing as well. She gave good pressure, had a hot towel, and did the best massage around the Des Moines area. Highly recommended!
