I can trust that when I bring my car in for service that the mechanics at Engine Works will do a thorough inspection and let me know if something need...s to be done. Additionally, EWs prices are very fair. EW diagnosed the cause of rare symptoms for two of my previous cars when other mechanics could not. Show more

I feel very fortunate to live so close to such a reliable and honest shop. I’m an older single woman, and I still get treated with respect. That can’t... be said at many shops. The hourly rate is competitive, and I even frequently end up paying less than the estimate. They are a small busy shop, so you do usually need to leave the car all day. So once in a while for an oil change, I still go to one of the quickie places. But other than that I wouldn’t take my car anywhere else. Show more

4.5 stars, if it would let me indicate that. Engine Works are still awesomeness even after I switched vehicles quite a few years ago. To be fair, I'd ...been going to the dealership then back to Big E Automotive, who may as well be Engine Works' Peninsula cousins. But when the codes thrown were too urgent to slog across a bridge, EW to the rescue. Practically walkable. My only complaint is despite having an appointment, i had to call in the next day for an update. A same-day call even to say we're still at it would have been 5 stars. That aside, everyone was friendly, explained specifically what was going on, and worked with me in deciding priority of repairs. Sooo glad EW is still an Alameda fixture with emphasis on fix. Made the appt online at a most convenient (to me) time. They took the car immediately...had it back in less than 5 hours. This was just a maintenance ...check (the light came on).
