I have been a long time customer since June 2012, nearly 10 years and I keep coming back for more every month as John has strong hands and I need that... for my tense muscles as have have tight glutes and thighs from dancing and working out 5 days a week. There is free parking in the back of the building and the massage room is pleasant with a beautiful photo and air filters. It is no frills as I don't go there for the scenery but for a great massage! John is professional and asks you what areas need working on and 90 minutes is the minimum I need as 60 minutes go by so quickly! The rates are reasonable for a 90 minute massage. He works hard to relieve any tension or muscle ache that you have. He can be reserved and not talkative at times since I have known him to be talkative at one session and silent on other occasions. And well, you're supposed to be quiet and relaxed during your massage and not gabby! The only con is that he needs to update his website to show the number to contact him in case you need to reschedule at the last minute or have a question, so it isn't easy to contact him by phone. I haven't found any other massage therapist who knows what areas need working on except for John and it has been almost 10 years! Time flies! Show more

There was much tension, far beyond my awareness. John’s attention to my legs and hips were so thorough, I was surprised to find increased mobility. I’ve never moved so freely. It was my third visit. My past two visits l was very happy with the skill level of Mr Porter. He was very focused, answered my questions. But my la...st visit this week was different. During my massage he ignored any questions or comments from me. I felt l was deliberately given the silent treatment. I Couldn't wait for the massage to end. However, if you're looking for some serious deep tissue work, John is the best CMT I've been to in the Bay Area. Strongly recommend the hot stones treatment and taking advantage of his cash discount.
