I am so utterly disappointed with the service that I wish I could leave NEGATIVE stars. Cliff notes: 1. Quoted a 3 hour service, but actually took ...6 hours 2. DESTROYED my edges (she clearly does NOT know how to work with natural hair) 3. All of the color came out in the first wash 2 weeks after my appointment because she didn't apply it correctly. 4. Blamed me for the bad service, and refused to give me a refund but offered a free style. Then she stopped responding to me when I asked about styles First, I had a consultation with Val, literally days before my appointment so she knew the state of my hair. I asked for an ombré all over color and a silk press. At that consultation she didn't tell me that I needed to pre-wash or detangle my hair so I assumed she would do both. Boy was I wrong! She did not detangle my hair at all. Instead she immediately blew it out with a hair dryer with a comb attachment. Yanking my head left and right because it obviously wasn't detangled. 1/3 of my edges gone. Then she applies the bleach. Once again, using the blow dryer with the comb attachement to blow out my hair. If you have natural hair, you know that applying too much heat can be damaging but it's a HUGE no-no after bleaching because your hair is already dry and vulnerable. I want to be clear that she didn't apply heat while the bleach was on my hair to make the process faster but immediately after she rinsed it out. 2/3 of my edges (and my length) gone. Next, she added the color. I asked for an indigo to purple ombré (picture reference included) and she didn't deliver on what I asked for. The "ombré" was haphazard and honestly, the result was something I could've done at home. The second color was introduced at different levels on my head and the ombré was not seamless. In parts you can clearly see where one color stops and the other begins. Additionally she bought the color from freaking Fresh Market, like I literally watched her take it out of a Fresh Market bag and my dumb butt still stayed in that chair. After rinsing the color out, she applied heat and blew out my hair with for a THIRD time. Again, she didn't detangle at any step of this process so she's still working against knots in my hair. ALL the edges are gone by this point. Now I've caught some sense (after being there for 5.5 hours) and I tell her that I don't want the silk press anymore because I know that more heat would completely destroy what's left of my hair. Instead, she gives me two braids, fighting the hair the entire time b/c MY HAIR IS NOT DETANGLED. I have pictures showing knots still in my head after color was applied. After I leave and really look at my hair when I get home, I texted her about my missing edges. She blames me and says she can't offer a refend but "the best she could do is offer a free style". I said if she could offer a free style, why couldn't she offer a refund at the price of a style because it's essentially the same thing. Still no reply. Two weeks later, I wash my hair with sulfate-free shampoo and so much color comes out of my hair that my nails turn purple (also pictured). I reach out again, and she still doesn't have the decency to take responsibility for the service she provided. She's not a stylist of integrity and isn't willing to own up when she doesn't deliver what she promises to her clients. I paid her $200 to wreck my hair 😒 First 2 photos show my edges, 3rd one of several knots, 4th the result of the color (you can see it's uneven on my twists), 5th my nails after the first wash, 6th what my hair looked like AFTER ONE WASH Show more

Thank you so much for your feedback. As previously stated in our communications, initially you were quoted a 3 hour service for one color, trim and silk press- no extras. You forgot to mention: 1. You stated before leaving the consultation, you were going to comb your hair. Per you, you “had locs” that you just combed out and still had some in, for 8 months because you didn’t like how the stylist installed them. 2. You came to your appointment, with some locs still in your hair and not detangled. Happy to proof it. Not to mention, you had short patches in your hair, which I brought to your attention asking if you cut some of your hair in which you responded “No tellin’ with how rough I was on my head.” Which you mentioned several times you had difficulties combing out your locs and that you were rough taking them down. Your edges were in the same condition as when you came in and when you left. 3. Fashion colors is not permanent color, so it will gradually fade out/bleed. 4. You were quoted for what you asked for: one color, trim, silk press. It became a 6 hour service because it took two hours to comb out and detangle your hair throughout the service. An additional 30 minutes to add a second color, you asked for Day Of, which I gladly accepted. Also, you paid $200 for a $500 service. Detangling fee, Olaplex Treatment and Steam Treatment on which I done for free. *Response continued under picture description*
