I don’t normally leave bad reviews, especially for black owned businesses. I gave 3 stars because Wendy is truly a beautiful person. She is warm and k...ind and attentive to her clients. Her salon is also a safe space free of judgment and gives off positive vibes. This was, however my second and last time visiting her salon. The first time I went for a color consultation and was told I’d need to come back because she didn’t have any brown dye available. I proceeded with my cut which turned out great, but the styling left a lot to be desired. Her twist out method left me looking like I was getting starter locks and the products used left my hair dry, and the skin around my hairline irritated. I also had a white cast where my edges had attempted to be slicked down. Today, for my second attempt I tried mitigating the previous issues by bringing my own products and attempting to twist my own hair. As she wanted to help twist we completed my whole head on record time, however after a long while under the dryer, the sections that she twisted turned out puffy and did not blend with the clip ins I had brought for my hair. My day is no ruined since I can’t go to my next appointment without a hat and I was already late since she didn’t arrive until nearly 25 min after my appointment was set to start. I'm so glad i was able to make this appointment My friend T has been telling me about Wendy for 2 ye...ars and she didn't disappoint. 1st impression, the salon is very clean, a small thing but rarely do i find clean branding salons in nyc. Wendy herself is a skilled technician that completed my braids in 4hrs by herself. She's very personable and kept me laughing about corporate shenanigans of this one IG character name 'Veronica' a spicey office worker who knows her rights and doesn't take crap from anyone 😆 lol Thanks again Wendy.
