This was our first visit here. It was recommended to us by several friends. I booked online for both of my kiddos. One with jessica at 130 and one wit...h another at 115. How convenient I thought that would be. We were greated as soon as we walked in by Jessica and several others. They asked if we had appts or were walk ins. I explained that i had made appts online one with someone for my son and one with Jessica and pointed to my daughter. Jessica immediately responded with "does she want her head shaved? Because i dont cut girls hair, i am a traditional barber!" I kind of froze for a minute and was a little confused. I had booked a kids haircut online and no where online did it specify males only. I guess I offened her by assuming she cut males and females hair?!? I am not sure. She then offered to do it just this once so we didn't have to go somewhere else but only if all my daughter wanted was a straight across the edges trim. My daughter being 7 was confused and uncomfortable and to be honest I should have just left at this point but my daughter agreed and my son was already in the chair with someone else. Literally 2 mins later my daughter was finished. The dead ends were cut off evenly. There was no other communication from Jessica after this. We sat there for almost an hour while my son finished with his haircut, and not one word did she even try to speak to us. When my son was finished i asked the other barber if i could pay him for both haircuts and he said jessica said she wasnt charging us for my daughter's. I thanked him and told him i appreciated it and paid. Maybe its my fault maybe i should have educated myself better on what a barber is or does. But regardless while i appreciate you trimming her ends and not charging for it, as the owner of this business you completely ruined pur first experience at the shop and i hope in the future you learn to treat people with more kindness that's all you needed to do, you could have just been nice and explained things instead of treating us so rudely. My 7 year old told me ahe never wants to come back there, that should speak volumes. Show more

I waited before responding to this review because I wanted to handle it professionally. I try to respond to all reviews that are left for me. Your review states that you were greeted in a quick and friendly matter when you arrived, it stated that I went out of my way to accommodate you and your daughter even though I am not trained as a licensed barber to cut female styled hair, states that I did it quick and well, and because it took me 3 minutes ish I didn't feel right to charge you. These are all things that I see are positive and that I did my services well and to your satisfaction. When I finished, I cleaned my stand while your daughter came to you to look at her hair. You smiled and nodded but did not approach or speak to me. I assumed you were happy and good to go. I apologize for not approaching you to determine satisfaction. You and / or your daughter may have felt offended that I asked if she was getting a shave or mens style cut. I'm sorry that you felt offended. I as a female in a severely dominated male industry and as the top provider in out area, i continue to be offended when parents book thier son with my apprentice barbers and book thier daughters with me "just because I'm a girl". You assumed that due to my gender that I cut females when I spent 3 years working hard to be the most booked barber in surry Co. I think you may have offended yourself. I do apologize. I love that nate gave you son a wonderful cut and do hope you continue to book with him.
