Women's Trim Hydrating Steam Treatment Quick Weave

I had THE most horrible experience with Mellanie Campbell. I booked a quick weave with a lace frontal closure install. This was my very first time get...ting this hairstyle and getting any kind of lace applied to my head. She did my hair on Thursday, November 2nd. I was really excited to receive this hairstyle and let her know that it was my first time getting it. The appointment went well and the hairstyle itself came out beautiful. The lace began to lift completely off 2 days later, which was not her fault as I learned that with sweating can lift a lace. I contacted her on Sunday, November 5th to inform her that my lace had lifted and two tracks had come undone. She told me to come in Tuesday, November 7 for a one time touch up. I came back to her home to have the hairstyle fixed. She explained to me that she would put five layers of glue on my hairline to secure it better and she put me under the dryer. I said okay and trusted that she would fix the problem and that she knew what she was doing and I wouldn’t have any further issues. After she was done fixing my hair she placed a wig band over my head and told me not to take it off while I was lounging around at home. I said, “okay.” Fast forward until today, Friday November 10th. I saw that there was so much excess glue around my forehead past the wig band. As I took off the wig band, I noticed that there were clumps of glue under the edge of the lace frontal and on my hair. It literally is a white ring around my lace frontal from all of the excess glue that she applied. I contacted her immediately via text message to inform her of what had occurred and show her what my hair looked like. I sent pictures of my hair with the text and also stated that I was not happy at all. She asked me if she could call me versus text messaging. I replied, yes. While we were on the phone: she began to make excuses saying, “That’s the hairstyle you chose” and she cannot guarantee the hairstyle lasting. I explained to her that the lifting was not my issue again, but the fact that she had placed 5 to 6 layers of glue on my hairline which caused excess glue to be everywhere and clumped in my hair and around the lace, causing a thick white layer that I do not know how to fix/clean up. She did not address my actual concern. She began to raise her voice to me and talk in circles. She then said, “What do you want me to do fix your hair again?! I’m not fixing it anymore!” I replied, “Mellanie, I didn’t even ask you.” In my head I thought but yes as you’re a professional hairstylist you should have known what you were doing and you should be trying to fix the situation to keep a good client, right?! She then brought up the fact that I didn’t tell her that it was my first time getting that hairstyle until the day she touched it up. I replied and said that I did let her know on my appointment day that it was the first time that I was getting that hairstyle, but what did that have to do with the problem that I had; which was the fact that she put 5 to 6 layers of glue on my hairline?? She wouldn’t let me get a word in and continued talking over me and raising her voice. She would not address the question and issue at hand. She then tells me that she would refund me $60 for the frontal application charge, but I have yet to receive the refund after sending her my Zelle request. I can clearly see that Mellanie is not as knowledgeable or skilled on certain hairstyles as she presents herself to be. She is also the type of stylist that gets defensive and disrespectful when coming to her with issues about her work. This was my very first time getting my hair done by her and it WILL be my last time. I am completely hurt and flabbergasted. I literally wasted $215 for a hairstyle that didn’t even last 3 days. Please do not book with her because if you have an issue with your hair she will not rectify the situation and she will not refund you and she is completely unprofessional!! Show more

I pride myself on the fact I do everything I can to make all my clients happy and comfortable. This is the first bad review I’ve ever received. I'm human, so I'm happy to fix anything that Ive done incorrectly. I also always make sure everyone has a full understanding on any service I do. So with that being said, there are a few lies in this review. She made this post at 12:45pm. Her refund was sent at 12:15pm. Why lie and say I never sent it? It was sent 4 minutes after my last text with her. She said this was her first time seeing me. She received a haircut previously. She said I yelled at her & wouldn’t allow her to speak. What's even more sad is that everything she said I did to her is what I texted her at 12:11pm she did to me. I have witnesses to her behavior. I would’ve been willing to do a different type of service but she kept being rude. I only offered her a partial refund as a courtesy. She told me if I didn't refund her she would post a bad review on my page. I told her to go ahead because you're not going to threaten me. I also have a client as a witness to how her hair looked when she left. There was no caked up glue. She said herself lace wear? She agreed to the $60 then sent me a request for $200. I hate this she’s unhappy but I would never do anyone dirty. If I truly did what she said I did, then why lie?

Honestly, I am not quick in writing reviews, because I desire to experience service or product thoroughly before I give a review (in order to help eve...ryone else wanting that service or product). As many of us know, there is a huge sigma about hair stylists being rude and unprofessional within the community. I can say with all honesty that Mellanie is beyond exceptional, outstanding, professional, immensely knowledgeable about hair. Personally, I am tender-headed and I significant damage my hair from not taking care of it. I have visited Mellanie about 4 times and I have seen an improvement with my hair and she is very gentle. Futhermore, due to my hair damage, I have stayed away from sew-ins (and because I am tender-headed). Today, I just got a closure sew in from Mellanie because my hair has become more healthy ever since her taking care of it. I am pain free and the hair is absolutely beautiful. I highly recommend Mellanie. I can now proudly say I have a hair stylist who is professional and an expert at her job. Thank you very much Mellanie! Show more
