Stitch Braids (4-6)

Bri was initially very pleasant and seemed to be pretty informed when it came to my daughter’s hair and how to properly care for it. I mentioned that ...she has very fine, soft hair and that I’ve been looking a stylist that can style it without causing damage. I’ve been doing it at home but it takes me way too long to braid since it’s not my occupation. Everything was fine, but it seemed to be rushed toward the end since she had another client coming in. Granted, her and I both ran a bit late at the beginning of the appointment since she had to go to the store and I had to finish taking out a couple braids, but I still don’t think it’s fair to rush because things tend to be sloppily done (based on previous experiences). I myself was a bit indecisive on how to style the ends, because the braids hanging in the back looked very sparse and I didn’t want to complain but I didn’t know what would look right. I decided on a bun, but when I looked at the back of my daughters head, the nape of head was pulled very tight, it was red and some parts looked white (where the skin would ordinarily be brown). It was apparently too tight. I showed it to her, and I guess because her next client was there she got a bit of an attitude with me and sucked her teeth. I told her to just put beads on it, I paid her, and we left afterwards. When we got home and before my daughter went to bed, I looked at her hair again more in depth and saw how tight the sides were pulling as well. It was red, swollen, and a couple of pus filled bump had formed where the design was done. Though my daughter does have very fine hair, she has had her hair braided many times before, and I’ve never seen it look that way. My daughter loves her hair and I think overall the style was cute, but based on the concerns that I stated, a little more caution could have been taken. I now have to take the style down because I don’t want to thin my daughter’s edges or cause any long term issues. Overall, this is just very unfortunate and inconvenient. Show more
