She is very personable and easy to chat with and made me feel comfortable right away as well. The atmosphere at The Chop Shop in Sparks was great too. Katy was very kind during the haircut. Our appointment was 20 minutes late, despite us being on time. Not usually a problem, but there was no communic...ation with us about this delay upon arrival. Then she charged us $25 for my 12 year old daughter's trim, rather than $20 as her prices state for 12 and under basic cut. The shop gave me major anxiety. It is an old house converted to a business that they had just relocated to about 2 weeks ago. It was very crowded and tiny. I had never been here before, so I didn't know what Katy looked like or what to expect. Upon entering, we didn't know where to go. We were ushered upstairs to a "lobby area." Customer service, professionalism, and appropriate dress codes would be potential opportunities for the shop owner. It was very cold in the building too. We have decided this isn't the place for us. My 12 year old described it as "emo vibes." I came back to add since i cannot respond to Katy's response. I had zero problem with what Katy was wearing. My issue was the person she shared a space with. The jeans had holes all over with a thin spaghetti strap top. Lots of skin showing to be working with young children. I also didn't even see Katy back in that corner when we came in, as it was very packed. It was a lot of miscommunication all around. Hence why i didn't leave bad stars, but I am leaving an honest review of how we felt. I did look at the pictures, but i never got that vibe. Personally, we just didn't feel comfortable or welcome. I am not one to argue with someone's prices, especially in a crowded room, but my daughter is 12 and got a basic cut. So, as a business owner why charge more if your prices are set? It was a 12 and under basic cut either way, which was why I didn't say anything until we were called over, plus I didn't know who you were to tell. My son is 8 and would have gotten a basic cut too, that would have been more complicated imo. Whether i swapped kids or not, price should stay the same because it was the same. It was a basic kids cut and she is 12. Anyhow, i was honest with how we felt. If anyone reads this i swapped kids because i found out my son's spring break pictures were this past Thursday, not next and i attempted to move his appointment to earlier in the week but katy had a flat tire and her car was going to be in the shop so she couldn't accomodate an earlier time or date. I took him to the barber to get cut before pictures and rather than canceling on Katy like i could have, we kept it so we could meet her and give her business still. Honestly, I felt bad about her tire. We were hoping this would work out for kids going forward. Show more

Hey there! Thanks for the detailed review 🥰. Unfortunately you booked for your son to get a haircut and didn't communicate with me about your daughter taking his place to which I happily obliged with the change in your reservation. You could've spoke up about the price if you didnt think it was appropriate♡. As for my attire I'm an independent contractor and have the freedom to express myself with my black pants and Garfield st Patrick's day shirt. The 20 minutes you waited was definitely my fault, sometimes appointments go longer than expected and I should've communicated that to you.. Sorry you felt cold, I could've accommodated you if you would've communicated that to me. As for the "emo" vibe we do have our shop online to look at before you book to see what our esthetics look like. My booksy page has my picture so I apologize you didn't see that aswell. Sounds like alot of miss communication. You asked the day before if you could change your appointment to Wednesday, unfortunately I don't work Wednesdays but I would've accommodated you but like you said I had a flat tire... what others wear has nothing to do with my hair cutting abilities and my customer service. I will be refunding you $5 dollars via zelle. I hope you guys find a shop that fits your family. Have a great weekend🥰

We had a great time! This salon even has a kids play area 😍 We showed up a bit early and were directed to a fun room with coloring pages, toys and a ...TV. Then the cherry on the top, a spectacular hair cut for my son! Katy K made it a great day for him, they talked about all the cool 7 year old stuff boys like lol and he left with the hair cut he really wanted. He’s been a bubbly, bouncing little monkey since lol he even dressed fancy today because he said it went with his new hair 😂🥰 Show more
