He did a complete hack job on my hair. I asked for a simple fade, 0 to 2 on the sides, disconnected from the top. For the top, I asked for a quarter i...nch trim in the back and a half inch trim in the front. I explained everything in detail and showed him a photo of my previous haircut, along with step-by-step written directions from my hairdresser. He repeated the instructions back to me and said he understood. For some reason, the fade was so uneven that the haircut took about an hour and a half because he couldn’t blend it correctly. I don’t understand how that is possible in a men’s barbershop where fades are done every day. He kept showing me the back, I would point out the areas that weren’t blended, he would agree, try again for a few minutes, show me, and it still wasn’t blended. Toward the end I just lied and said it looked fine so I could get out of the chair. It was awful. For the top, his scissors were not cutting correctly. My hair was already shaped the way I wanted, so following the existing outline should have been easy. I wasn’t asking for anything new, just a clean trim. But his scissors weren’t cutting, and he kept acknowledging it, saying they were not cutting right and how annoying it was. When I got to the car and looked in the mirror, I saw how completely messed up the top of my hair was. On the left side in the front, the hair was about one inch long. On the right side, it was about an inch and a half. In the middle, there were random long pieces that weren’t cut at all, so I had three-inch strands sitting next to one-inch strands. It was completely hacked. It looked like he used hedge trimmers that lost power halfway through. It was genuinely terrible. I do have standards for a haircut, but I’m not asking for anything complicated. I had to go home and fix my hair with kitchen scissors, and it still came out better than what I left the shop with. Every time I look in the mirror, I get frustrated because my hair is so uneven that I can’t even style it. I’m in a very important wedding at the end of this month, and my hair won’t grow out in time to look presentable or anywhere close to what I wanted. As someone who travels for work, I’ve had many haircuts from many different places, and I can confidently say this is the worst haircut I’ve ever received. He didn’t charge me, but honestly, he should’ve paid for me to go somewhere else to fix it instead of leaving me to piece my hair together in the bathroom with kitchen scissors. I would never go back, and I would caution anyone thinking about getting a haircut here. Don’t agree to cut my hair if you can’t even cut hair well. I would have had no issue leaving and coming back another time or going elsewhere. He needs some classes on cutting hair because what he did to my hair is borderline assault and UNACCEPTABLE. Instead, I’m stuck with a terrible haircut I can’t style. Even if you’re having an off day, if you cut men’s hair for a living and I’ve given you a clear picture of what I want, with explanations, details, photos, and exact lengths, there’s no reason I should leave with anything other than what I asked for, or at least something that resembles it. Interpretations can vary between barbers, but this looked nothing like what I requested. What I walked out with was simply a horrible haircut. This haircut has taken away my confidence and I know it’s going to go back but it’s going to take weeks.
