My initial appointment was satisfactory and informative; however, I felt that the opportunity to discuss matters in detail was somewhat limited. Upon ...discovering that additional documentation from another physician was required for a medication, I did not dispute the requirement, as the provider clarified the most common indications for the medication in question. I obtained the necessary documentation and returned the following day to complete the recertification process. I was informed the previous day that this would simply involve signing the certification and concluding the appointment. However, my prescribing doctor chose to avoid redundancy by stating the medication, diagnosis, and her opinion that I am fit to operate any form of Commercial Motor Vehicle. Nonetheless, because my prescribing doctor did not explicitly specify that I am not being treated for alcoholism or opioid addiction, IC examiner expressed strong disapproval and conveyed the impression that his belief is that anyone on this medication must be undergoing treatment for these conditions. The staff environment was somewhat discourteous and appeared to be crowded, with appointments scheduled back-to-back, which contributed to a less welcoming atmosphere. The exception was the receptionist, who was very personable—smiling, cheerful, and professional—even amidst continuous ringing phones and managing customers walking in back to back. Show more
