Any stylist that can manage my hair can really do hair, I mean really. Next month makes a year since I discovered this hidden gem, and I'm beyond grat...eful. Here's my story. My hair was a complete mess. It was thick (I mean the tough thick that snap combs- inherited), it was dry, and it tangled so easily. I purchased "natural" product after "natural" product for my "hair type," and none addressed my concerns. Tried the infamous Dominican press, left with burnt, flat hair that fell in clumps for days. Thinking my hair was unmanageable in its natural state, I washed it, dried it, and kept it braided. I became concerned when the middle of my hair began to thin and break off because that's always been the thickest part. I knew I had to lay off the back to back braids, but I didn't know what to do with my hair outside of braids. I decided to try the salon one more time before cutting or relaxing my hair. Real salons and real hairstylist are rare these days. I've lived in metro ATL for almost 7 years, and only one stylist understood my hair (her texture was similar) until I moved to the north end and booked a consult with Ms. LaVonda. She recommended the shampoo/silkpress/trim. I was nervous, but I followed the rec. My hair was cute, and the press lasted for 8 weeks. The dryness and puffiness upon stepping outdoors annoyed me, so I booked the steam hydration. My hair liked it, and my silk press held the curls nice, something I thought was impossible for my hair. Still battling manageability and moisture retention issues, I mentioned being interested in relaxing. She told me to try design essentials sts express first. After she explained the process to me. I booked an appointment for it. I just knew I would be booking a relaxer appointment right after, but I was so wrong! It worked great, and I'm sooooo in love with my hair now. I wear it out alllll the time now and receive so many compliments. I only got braids 1 time this year for a family trip, and I took them out as soon as we returned (not ruining my growth progress). What works for me may not work for you, but that smoothing treatment was made for me, and I'm happy that I followed her recommendation. The dryness is gone, my hair reverts back after every wash, the big ball of hair on wash days is gone, and it's easier to detangle. I moved out of the area but still drove 45 mins for my third treatment last week. My curls are still juicy, flowing, and shining. We've been consistent with the trims, and my hair has grown out so nice, and my ends are so kept. I love my natural hair. I stay in a mirror, staring at it in awe. Thank you so much, Ms. LaVonda.
