What is waxing? Waxing is the hero of all hair removal methods. Warm wax is applied to the skin and sticks to the hair. We use the wax to to pull the hair from the root – removing the entire hair from the follicle. Does waxing hurt? Some people feel pain more than others, but you can expect a short, stinging sensation after the strip is pulled. You can take an ibuprofen or aspirin about 30 minutes before your appointment to minimise your discomfort. (Always consult with your physician before taking medications.) Keep it up: Continuous waxing lessens the amount of hair you have, so waxing will get less painful every time. Why should I wax instead of shaving, laser or electrolysis? If waxing is done consistently, hair grows back slower, finer, and sparser. Shaving cuts the hair off at the skin so the quantity and thickness of the hair stays the same. It can also increase skin sensitivity and cause more ingrown hairs. Electrolysis and laser hair removal don’t work for everyone and can be unpredictable and expensive. Will my hair grow back thicker or darker? No, waxing has the opposite effect. Hair that is removed at the roots grows in finer and softer over time. Can I be waxed if I am taking Retin A, Renova or Accutane? These medications increase the rate at which your skin exfoliates so waxing could remove skin as well as hair. Please let your therapist know if you are on any medications. Also be aware that chemical peels, laser, and micro-dermabrasion can also affect skin integrity. What other medications do we need to be aware of? There are many medications that affect the skin (glycolic acid, lactic acid, benzyl peroxide, salicylic acid, alpha hydroxyl acid, vitamin A, prescribed exfoliating scrubs, antibiotics, hormonal medications, radiation and/or chemotherapy drugs). Please consult with your physician about your medication and how it may affect waxing. Some brand names to be aware of: Adapalene, Avita, Tazorac Avage, Proactiv(e), Differin, Strivectin. How often should I get waxed? This depends on where you’re being waxed and on your individual hair growth pattern, but for best results we recommend waxing every 4 weeks. How do I prevent ingrown hairs? Be kind to your skin: Follow the aftercare tips carefully. Ingrown hairs are wimpy hairs that are too weak to push through the skin – causing inflammation. The best way to prevent this from happening is to exfoliate 2-3 times a week. ⚜️Microneedling ⚜️ HOW DOES MICRO NEEDLING WORK? The concept behind needling is the stimulation of new collagen production in your skin. The dry needle abrasion breaks your skin and causes micro-trauma and micro-inflammation. Your body will respond by sending blood to the area for healing. Blood platelets then release clotting factors, cytokines and essential growth factors. Fibroblasts make and deposit new extra cellular matrix with collagen and elastin. As your skin repairs itself, new collagen builds up in the Papillary Dermis (middle layer) just below the surface. The wrinkles, lines, or depressed scars plump from the bottom-up without the use of anything artificial. Repeated needling sessions gradually and continually build new collagen to fill-in the treated areas. The terms Collagen Induction and Collagen Induction Therapy is used to describe this process. Applications of needling technique. • Scar Tissue Relaxation • Indented Scars • Surgical Scars •Wrinkle Treatment •Scar Relaxation What are the benefits off needling? Results are similar to those from other skin resurfacing methods. However, the needling technique has several advantages: •Epidermis Remains Intact •Less Pigmentation Changes •Fewer Side Effects •Fast Healing and Downtime •On-going Treatments are possible because the dermis becomes thicker in the treated areas Instead of thinner. How is the procedure performed? 1. A topical anesthetic is applied to numb the treatment area so the procedure will not be painful. 2. Sterile needles 1 to 2 millimeters into the skin (epidermis and top layer of the dermis) to create shallow puncture wounds. 3. We guide the needle to make multiple insertions within the borders of a line, wrinkle, or scar. 4. The dry needling causes pinpoint bleeding that is minimal and stops quickly. 5. Your body's natural healing process is activated at that point and the rest is up to your own collagen production. How long is the healing process? •For either wrinkle or scar treatments, swelling is minimal and surface (outer) healing occurs in a few days. •Immediately after a procedure, your skin will look red in the places that were needled. •Fine fines and wrinkles will look like "scratches" or appear like they have "paper cuts" inside them. •Scars will be red as if a scab had just been peeled off. •A light scab will form on the treated areas (It Is common for light scabbing to occur with skin penetration procedures). •Redness lasts 1 to 2 days then turns pink by day 2 or 3 and continues to fade. •During the first 1 to 3 days, normal skin care products should be applied to the broken skin. •Procedures should be performed a minimum of 6 weeks apart to allow for complete healing and collagen production. •The number of required treatment sessions varies according to the depth of each wrinkle or scar. •Improvement in the needled areas may be seen as soon as a few weeks after procedure. •However, inner healing of the skin continues for several months. •During this time the needled skin will smooth and tighten as collagen Is deposited. •Fine lines or wrinkles may need 2 to 6 sessions to be plumped. •Medium to deeper wrinkles and acne scars may require 6 or more treatments for optimal results. •Pitted scars and deep wrinkles may require 6 to 10 sessions or more for optimum depth Improvement. •Results can be enhanced and maintained when special vitamin creams are used after initial healing.Save up to 10%R650,00R585,001hMicroneedling Full Face & Neck
