Wash & Blow dry Kids Braided Styles W/O Added Hair

I booked online Thursday for a 9AM Saturday appointment for my 7 year old. Livie texted a few hours later to confirm and asked what style I would like.... I explained that I usually do basic little girl styles: ponytails, half up/half down, etc. she stated we she would pull up pics and let my daughter decide. Saturday morning Livie texted to make sure I seen she changed the appointment time to 10:15 AM, I didn’t get the notification but it was fine. At this time, we had not discussed pricing and I was specifically going on what I saw on her profile. Kids Braids w/no hair added $50+ and wash and blow dry $20+. I understand “+” means the price could be higher, however as a NEW client I would expect that to be a conversation right after booking or at least BEFORE services were rendered. When I arrived at the salon she reiterated she would show some pictures and allow my daughter to pick a style. Keep in mind I left and came back multiple times throughout the process. After the job was pretty much done she realized she didn’t have rubber bands to put on the beads so I said I’ll go get some. Before I left, I put $80 on her booth. After I left for the rubber bands, I received a text message saying the final price was $135 - $105 for braids, $20 for shampoo, $10 for blow dry. When I inquired she explained a $50 style is 5-7 braids straight back. She didn’t offer any compromise and said “next time, I’ll send pictures so you can have a more accurate price” I paid the money, waited for her to apply the beads and left. She definitely lost a potential consistent client. Update: I arrived at 10:22 AM to be exact after the appointment was changed to 10:15 AM. When I dropped my daughter off you began to wash her hair. During that time I went and got the beads across the street from the salon. You called me while I was getting the beads and told me about her wetting her clothes, and I brought the clothes and beads at the same time. It took her all of 5 minutes to change which is the only time you were “waiting”. After she changed you advised me it would be 2-3 hours before you finished. I left for about an hour and then brought her food. She and I never discussed what style she was getting at the salon, when I came back with her food you had already braided the top half. When I left to get the rubber bands it was after you told me you had 5 braids left and the money was placed neatly folded and clearly visible. It was $80 because I thought the full price was $70. Never said I didn’t like the style, I said I felt blindsided and I won’t be returning. There was no need to go back and forth with you or make a scene. Lastly, the only difference of the style is I took the ponytail down. As you explained at the salon, you made it versatile. 😌 Show more

For further clarification, you booked a “Wash & Blow Dry”=$20(+) & a “Kids Braided Style Without Added hair”= $50(+). You stated that you understood (in your review that (+) means starting price, so I'm not sure why you are making it seem as though your were blinded. You were late to your appointment (past my 15 min grace period, you sent eta & location which I have & couldn’t get started until 11am. During wash, your daughter tried to get out the chair & her clothes got wet so I had to wait for you to bring her more. As I was braiding your daughters hair, you slipped the money bundled up on my booth instead of handing it directly to me ($80) in the middle of her being serviced without saying a word while & left to get rubber band, that I had declined several times. (I didn’t make it your problem as a client and had every intent to make it work and I still had half of her hair left to do so I had time to get my own rubber bands & you forgot the beads as well) You went to the store, I checked how much you put on my booth. I hadn’t given you a set price due to you and your daughter going back and forth about the style she wanted during service. I then texted you the full price, directly after you left when I realized that it was only $80 & advised the final price. You stated you loved the service, your daughters hair and you’d be back in a few weeks for another appointment. Lastly, your daughters hair did not look like that when she left my chair.
