UPDATE: The owner contacted me and was very apologetic. He had another technician correct my nails and assured me he took steps for preventing experie...nces like this from happening again. He clearly cares about doing good work and ensuring his staff meet the quality standards he expects for his business. I’m changing my score because I do believe what I experienced was a unique situation. My “redo” experiences was very positive and I love how my nails turned out. The worst nail experience I’ve ever had. I’ve consistently had dip manicures for well over a year at other salons without issue, but due to scheduling conflicts, I decided to give NailLuxe a try twice. Unfortunately, both visits were disappointing, and my most recent experience yesterday was particularly bad. To start, they did not ask me to wash my hands before the dip manicure. This happened both visits. When I asked if I should, I was told it wasn’t necessary. This is highly unhygienic, especially given that dip powder jars can harbor bacteria and lead to fungal infections. The manicurist was extremely rough with the grinder and emery board, to the point that I was in pain and visibly flinching. He even cut one of my fingers. I jumped back in pain but didn’t realize until after the appointment that he actually cut my finger. He had to have known this as it was very visible. My cut finger was then dipped into a communal jar of powder which is an alarming hygiene concern for both myself (putting me at risk for infection) and for others. He did ask me if I was ok after he cut me but he should have stopped and taken safety precautions. My cuticles were not touched or cleaned up, and dip and topcoat were applied over them. This will cause lifting as my nails grow out. The emery board was repeatedly scraped across my skin (using my fingers as a guide and causing me to question if he is actually properly liscensed because I’ve never experienced this much discomfort from having my nails filed.) This left the area around my nails cracked and dry. He also did nothing to address hangnails or ensure a neat finish. I get manicures regularly and have always had nice looking nails often receiving compliments. He actually made my hands look like I don’t take care of them. After leaving, I realized my nails were uneven, rough, and very blunt. I had to file them at home to make them not so rough. But the damage to my skin from the rough emery board will take time to fix. I typically go four weeks between appointments, but I’ll now need to have them redone soon which is particularly frustrating as I have two major events in the next two weekends. This visit was a complete waste of time and money. On top of the poor service, I was scheduled for 2:00 PM, and after wrapping my fingers in foil to remove my previous dip, the technician left. At 2:25 I had to ask the receptionist to find him, as I had another appointment at 3:30. I’ve never experienced a technician walking away mid-service. The tools and products were handled carelessly. He used the same brush on my hands that he had used to clean the counter, stirred the dip powder with his finger, and was physically rough when adjusting my hands. At the end of the appointment, a large glob of topcoat was stuck to my index finger. I asked for help removing it, but he couldn’t get it all off. I had to work on it for hours afterward to finally remove it without tearing my skin. This experience was anything but “luxe.” The manicurist showed no care for hygiene, comfort, or the quality of his work. I regret not speaking up during the appointment and will not be returning. Note: for some reason this says the technician was Emily. It was not Emily. It was a man and I don’t recall his name but I know it wasn’t Emily. This review app was pushed to me by the salon and they inserted the name. I don’t know why they aren’t being honest about the actual person who provided me this service. Show more
