Knotless Boho

Unfortunately, my experience with Marlene was disappointing due to ongoing miscommunication and a lack of clarity around expectations and pricing. Day...s before my appointment, I received two texts from her at 2:45 AM explaining that curly hair wasn’t provided for the boho braids I had originally requested, and asking for my preferred color. I responded that I would go with regular large knotless braids, with wavy ends, a middle part, and a small amount of baby hairs left out. I also sent a photo reference of the hair color I wanted. On the day of the appointment, Marlene arrived late because she had to pick up the hair. While at the store, she called to let me know the color I requested wasn’t available, so I compromised a second time and agreed to a regular brown. Once she arrived and began setting up, I reiterated my request: large knotless braids, middle part, baby hairs left out. Midway through the appointment, I asked if paying by card was okay. I assumed it was because nowhere on her Booksy page does it mention “cash only.” She told me card wasn’t accepted, which left me scrambling to coordinate a cash drop-off with my husband while still getting my hair braided. With just a few braids left, I confirmed the price was $200. Marlene then stated it was actually $300. I was completely caught off guard, as her Booksy clearly listed $200. She claimed the price was $200 plus, and cited the cost of the hair she purchased ($36) as the reason for the increase. However, I had never asked her to buy anything specific or expensive, and it seemed she misunderstood “wavy ends” as “curly hair.” She insisted I had sent a picture of curly hair, when in fact, I had sent a photo of the color only. Beyond the confusion and unexpected price change, the final result didn’t align with what I requested. The braids were smaller than I asked for, there was excessive leave-out on one side, and she refused to make the ends wavy. (I asked twice but she had an attitude after the price dispute) The only positive thing I can say is that she braids quickly and the parts are neat. Overall, I left feeling frustrated and didn’t get what I asked for originally. Communication and transparency, especially regarding pricing and services are so important in a service-based business. Amazing job!! Marlene is so sweet and such a professional! I got boho knotless braids. They turned out beautiful! For the size (s/medium) and length(m...id back) I got she braided very quick! As someone who used to get her hair braided regularly this was by far my best experience! I will return! Show more
