Ruth complained the entire braiding session. My 4c hair texture, thick density, and large head made her job harder. She ranted about accepting the cor...nrow style and stated several times “ she may not finish” and “ should have told me NO” After telling Ruth I didn’t want individuals in the back, she put individual braids anyway. I wanted shoulder length braids but ended up with mid back braids. It took 7 hours for small straight backs. Don’t book the wash. If you have a small head and the hair texture she prefers, you’ll have a better experience. I agree with the hair texture complaining and unprofessional attitude that was mentioned, in the other negative reviews. Ruth, please remember you too can make your clients uncomfortable with your negative words and energy. Just like that one male client male you uncomfortable; so you stopped doing males hair. You made me very uncomfortable. Show more

I am sorry you felt like I was complaining, you asked me the type of heads I like doing cornrows on and I gave u an honest answer. You took offense in my honest response and call it for complaining. Yes I went out of my way to do you a style u didn’t book for cuz I was being nice and only to get this cuz I charged you extra. Mentioning why I stopped doing male clients was not necessary cuz u don’t know nothing about me or what happened with him.

I overall had a good experience. I was there for a long time, but it didn’t really feel like a long time (for knotless, boho bob with tricolors). It w...as a clean, comfortable, and calm environment- which I deeply appreciated. Vicky has very gentle hands, perhaps too gentle for a hair wash but was perfect for blow drying and braiding. I will give a few critiques about my experience. The first is in regards to preparation. I followed the instructions listed in the rules of the shop- to put a note, when paying deposit, detailing the requests and specifications for my appointment. I left a very detailed note and no one read that comment before confirming my appointment. When I arrived, I had to ask what color they were using, because they were only separating 1B, making an assumption about what I wanted. I would’ve loved for the person who confirmed my appointment to have read my notes, and then correspond with me about my appointment- whether through phone calls or email or text… and then I believe Ruth spoke to me on the phone to clarify my request and she tried to blame me or make an excuse like sometimes they don’t have the color in stock and if a client books close to the appointment requested they might not get the hair they desire… no, I chose the colors listed in the shop- so I assumed that it’s in stock or easily accessible. All of it was for not because Ruth had the colors as I assumed she would. It also would’ve been nice to receive directions on entering her place of business, because you have to go to the back of the house, through the side gate. I knocked on the front door and I didn’t want to disturb her family. Lastly, although Vicky is skilled and gentle, she is a bit slow- especially with parting the hair… and sadly I can’t tell my middle part is a bit squiggly. It’s not super noticeable at all, but when looking closely. Also, the videos she took were kind of long and happened multiple times.I’ve never had it be a whole production before lol. It wasn’t horrible and I didn’t feel pressured but next time I may decline the request. All in all, I had a lovely experience.and I will utilize their services next time I’m in the DMV. Show more
