I found Danyelle again after moving away for a few years and I am so thrilled! She’s already been booked out until the end of the year and booked for ...my upcoming wedding day. I will say here what I said twice at my appointment yesterday. What Danyelle has cannot be taught. She just gets it. Since I began getting silk presses in 2020, I’ve gotten my hair pressed by several stylists through the years and although the job gets done, there are small things that Danyelle has that makes the difference in the experience. Technique and knowledge that comes with over 20 years of experience that is incomparable! Let me give you an example or two. While I do not like bone straight hair, I will usually say no to curls during a silk press, because other stylists I’ve been to, blow dry (round one of heat) straighten with a flat iron (round 2 of heat), and then go back in with an curling iron to achieve curls (round 3 of heat). They will tell you themselves that the additional heat between plates isn’t ideal for your hair. The less heat the better. Especially for someone who wants to get pressed regularly without thinning, damage or breakage. As I want my hair to remain thick and healthy, even while pressing once a month, I will opt out unless it’s a special occasion and just use flexirods once I arrive home to achieve the body I want. Well, that changed yesterday when Danyelle reminded me that I was in safe hands because she curls as she flat irons. No additional heat required. Thats technique that the ladies coming out of school in the past few years are missing. She also understands that my nape area doesn’t grow out, but instead crawls down my neck in little 4c curls and without hesitation asked if I wanted her to shape it up. This is something I am very self conscious about and usually try to do myself. Another thing that seems small but means so much to someone like me. Again, She just GETS it. After discussing with Danyelle, I will be increasing to every 3 weeks and seeing how my hair responds to the more frequent visits. During our discussion, I realized that although I have been trying to not use heat more than once a month, My scalp tends to start shedding when I am at or close to week 4, which means it’s thinning. With her magic hands, I am confident I am in good hands! We can reasses if needed, if my hair isn’t responding well to the more frequent heat. Thats not something I was confident considering before. If you have made it to the end of this, God bless you! If I had sum up my experience in one sentence, it would be this: Danyelle’s chair feels like home, and it is good to be home! Show more
