About us

Yvonne has been passionate about creative hair design since she was a little girl. However, growing up in rural Alaska, access to salons offering a full range of up-to-date services was extremely limi...ted. At 18 years old, Yvonne travelled across the country to attend the Academy of Hair Technology in Greenville, South Carolina with a vision of one day being able to provide her community with quality, skilled salon services it desperately lacked. She received her cosmetology license in 2010, and, in 2019, Yvonne's dream was fully realized when she and her best friend opened Beyond the Mirror Salon in Fairbanks, Alaska. As a licensed cosmetology instructor in Alaska, Yvonne is humbled by the opportunity to contribute to the lifelong career development of her friends and neighbors who share her passion. Throughout the years, Yvonne's love for her career has continued to deepen. In addition to the creativity involved in her work, Yvonne loves the challenge and infinite opportunities for growth in her field. She values the relationships she's developed with her clients and is continuously inspired by seeing the confidence her clients gain when she's able to help them reflect the best versions of themselves to the world. Over the course of her career, Yvonne has prioritized continuing education, developing her skills in the latest and most advanced technologies and techniques.Yvonne currently specializes in balayage, vivids, extensions and men's cuts. Using primarily Goldwell color, as well as Guy tang and Pulp Riot. Yvonne is excited to be entering a new chapter of her journey in Arizona. While traveling here to seek relief from the subarctic Alaskan winters, she fell in love with the community, landscape and sunshine and knew that she would not be satisfied with just an occasional visit. This year, Yvonne decided to follow her heart and move to Arizona full-time. Yvonne currently holds dual cosmetology licenses, in both Alaska and Arizona, and plans to continue managing her salon remotely, returning North periodically to serve her regular clients. She looks forward to developing relationships with her clients in Arizona and meeting others in the community. When she's not in the salon, Yvonne loves spending her time outside - hiking, camping, or just exploring and capturing the beauty of her surroundings with photography. She is passionate about traveling, helping others and spending time with her family and close friends. Yvonne is thrilled to offer her unique skillset to her clients here as she grows as a member of the community.
