I tried so many salons while living in Chicago looking for an awesome cut and color that didn't make me look like a soccer mom....I wear my hair short... and just because I'm 50+ doesn't mean I do not want an edgy look. I finally found Rob & Bridget at Art + Science! They are amazing! I now live out of state but drive back as often as possible to see my kids, who still live in Chicago and squeeze in a cut and color! My husband, who travels with me LOVES Katie! I can see why Art + Science was rated the best Chicago Salon! The staff is super skilled and the front desk could not be sweeter! Typically I don't write Yelp reviews, but this one deserved it. I called ahead of time to lay out my situation - I had been box dyeing my hair a dark ...burgundy for a couple months, and was looking to make a big switch: dark brown with blonde ombre. I knew it was ambitious and didn't expect perfect results (hair dye and bleach can only do so much to red hair, it's not magic) but at the very least I'd get a cool dark brown/reddish tint to my hair. I was set up for an appointment with Bridget, and she was VERY straightforward with me, which was appreciated. She made a note of saying that it wouldn't be blonde where I wanted it to be, but it might be pink. I was pretty open so that wasn't a problem for me. She also checked in multiple times about the ombre - where I wanted the color to start, if I wanted it as highlights or a full solid color until the ends of my hair, how much of a "fade" into the blonde I wanted from the brown, etc. She was very thorough. Fast forward: while I was getting my hair washed, she again was very up front and told me the ombre wasn't close to blonde (again, not a problem for me) but that if I wanted, it could be lightened if I came back a couple more times. The woman who did my wash/blow-dry was Lauren, and we had an awesome conversation throughout. Salon chat is always nice, but she was really genuine and really cool about everything. Basically, my hair went from reddish burgundy to an AWESOME super-fade-out brown to reddish/orange/strawberry blonde at the ends. Bridget worked some kind of magic to make it look like my hair was born with ombre. Can't talk about her skills at this enough. Show more

I have been going to Art + Science for about a year now and I have never been disappointed. I go to Bridget for my color and she is absolutely amazing.... I went in not knowing what to do and she gave me the most beautiful ombre. I get comments on how pretty my hair is weekly with people wanting to know my secret for such a great color. I like to think I am a walking billboard for her dye jobs! Bridget will never settle until you are happy with your color. She is also super personable and genuinely cares about you and your opinions. I have never met such an amazing colorist and I will never let anyone besides her dye my hair again! Show more

After having a pretty miserable experience at another neighborhood salon that I had been going to for years, I looked to Yelp for direction. I called ...A & S and was scheduled with Bridget. She was fabulous; she understood what I was looking for, took time reviewing the photos that I had brought, and asked questions to fill in any gaps (because I know I'm not very salon-vocab savvy). I'll definitely be seeing her again, and I highly recommend her! Show more
