Electrolysis Consultation
The $35 consultation fee may be applied toward an electrolysis treatment if the service is booked and completed within 2 weeks of your consultation.* I do consultations beforehand not only to explain what I’m about to do, but most importantly, to ensure that there are no underlying medications or medical conditions that could make electrolysis unsuitable for you. Your health and safety are my top priority, and I want to ensure that this service will be both safe and effective for you. If you have any of the conditions listed below or take certain medications, please consult with your doctor beforehand and bring a doctor’s letter on official letterhead stating whether you are cleared to receive electrolysis and specifying the areas that can be treated. Please bring in your list of medications with you for your consultation. This is non-negotiable I will ONLY proceed with electrolysis if this requirement is met. As someone who has personally undergone three kidney transplants and understands the complexities of health conditions and medications, I take this very seriously. My priority is not just my business, but most importantly, your health and safety. I want every client to receive electrolysis without compromising their well-being. This policy is in place for your benefit, ensuring that we proceed in the safest way possible. One of the main reasons for the consultation is to make sure everything is in the clear regarding health and medication concerns. With that said, here’s what I do recommend. • Absolute Contraindications (Electrolysis should NOT be performed in these cases) • Pregnancy - As soon as you think you may be pregnant or confirm that you are, electrolysis treatments will be stopped immediately. Treatments can only resume once you have given birth and finished breastfeeding. While there is no conclusive research proving harm, I prioritize your and your baby’s safety. • Pacemakers or Internal Defibrillators - Electrical currents from electrolysis could interfere with these devices. • Active Skin Infections or Open Wounds - Treatment over an infected or broken area can worsen the condition. • Uncontrolled Diabetes - Poor wound healing increases the risk of infection. • Blood Clotting Disorders or Use of Blood Thinners - Some doctors may allow electrolysis for patients on blood thinners, but if your doctor advises against it, I will not perform the procedure. Blood thinners increase the risk of excessive bleeding, bruising, and slow healing. Examples of Blood Thinner Medications: Warfarin (Coumadin) Heparin Rivaroxaban (Xarelto) Apixaban (Eliquis) Dabigatran (Pradaxa) Clopidogrel (Plavix) Aspirin (high doses for blood thinning purposes) • Epilepsy (Uncontrolled) - Electrical stimulation may trigger seizures. Even with “controlled”epilepsy I’ll still require a doctor’s letter. • Skin Cancer or Undiagnosed Lesions in the Treatment Area - Electrolysis should not be performed over cancerous or suspicious lesions. • Any Type of Cancer or Ongoing Cancer Treatments - Electrolysis should not be performed on individuals undergoing cancer treatments due to potential changes in skin sensitivity and the healing process. Relative Contraindications (Treatment may be possible with medical clearance or modifications) • Diabetes (Controlled) - Healing may be slower, so extra care is needed to prevent infections. • Metal Implants (Pins, Plates, IUDs, etc.) - Galvanic and blend methods may not be advisable near metal implants due to potential reactions. • Recent Sunburn or Tanning - Increases sensitivity and risk of hyperpigmentation. • Active Acne or Rosacea - Inflamed skin may need to heal before treatment. • Keloid Scarring History - Higher risk of scarring, so treatment must be done with caution. • Recent Cosmetic Procedures (Botox, Fillers, Chemical Peels, Laser, etc.) - Skin should be fully healed before electrolysis. • Use of Accutane (Isotretinoin) in the Past 12 Months - Clients must be off Accutane for at least one full year before receiving electrolysis, as it causes extreme skin sensitivity and increases the risk of scarring. • Autoimmune Disorders (Lupus, Scleroderma, etc.) - Healing may be impaired, increasing the risk of complications. • Herpes 1 or 2 - If you’re on a active outbreak, unfortunately I can’t perform the service.
