I only visit Wayne Anthony’s when I’m back in Halifax for an extended period of time. Usually, the experience is sound. Prices are steep and the staff... act unprofessionally when Wayne himself is absent, yet these things can easily be overlooked when the haircut is of a good quality. Lea is my usual barber, and more often than not I have pleasant experiences with him, bar a few uncharacteristically poor occasions when he seemed to be in a big rush. All in all, not the worst place for when I need a trim to keep myself looking presentable before I can visit my usual, much better barber in Newcastle. However, today, as has happened before, Lea decided not to show up despite me booking the appointment a few days prior. A good fellow named Max used to cover for him when I was in Halifax last summer, yet Wayne seems to have let his most reliable colleague go and replaced him with someone he must have dragged off the street, offering him overnight shelter in the studio in order to save on wage costs (that is assuming he pays his staff a fixed wage, which I have reason to believe he does not). My current situation is so dire I have had to press factory reset and shave my hair off completely as the only recourse to avoiding daily humiliation. I was charged twenty three pound sterling for a haircut that would have failed even the most rudimentary of hairdressing course examinations. This establishments has been getting away with a performance of gentility for quite some time and I would implore anyone reading this to simply save your money and look elsewhere.
