REMEMBER! You have to book your patch test 48 hours before treatment. Contra-indication : Infectious skin disorders/diseases, open skin/ eczema, bruising, thin crêpey skin, sunburn, moles, recent scar tissue, excessive ingrown hairs, skin tags, reaction from previous treatments. Other things to look out for: Recent botox/fillers: Client must wait 7 days after botox and 2 weeks after filler before having treatment in the area. Recent chemical peel/ microdermabrasion: The skin will be too thin to wax over. You must wait a minimum of 2 weeks after microdermabrasion, and as long as the doctor who has carried out the peel says to wait. Pregnant and breastfeeding women, and those who have given birth in the last 6 months should NOT have tinting carried out. They are much more sensitive and more at risk of having an allergic reaction due to hormonal changes in their bodies. A client who has had a recent eye infection should wait until the condition has fully cleared up and any courses of medication have been completed to avoid infecting others (including the therapist) and contaminating tools. Diabetes: When it comes to waxing, the main issue with diabetes is the potential for reduced wound healing ability, which can mean the client is more susceptible to infection; any injury to the skin caused by waxing is therefore a concern. Those clients with vascular damage and/or neuropathy (nerve damage resulting in a loss of sensation) are at particular risk, so a full consultation is vital. Clients who have diabetes must gain a doctors note to ensure that it is safe to treat them, and to cover yourself in the eyes of your insurance should a claim arise.
