Nail extensions are artificial additions that make your natural nails longer and shaped beyond their natural length. Instead of just coating your nail (like regular polish or BIAB), extensions actually build extra length onto the tip.

How they work

A nail technician adds material on top of your natural nail using either:

• A tip (a pre-shaped plastic extension glued on), or
• A form (a mold placed under your nail so the extension can be sculpted)

Then they build over it using products like:

• Acrylic
• Hard gel
• Sometimes thicker builder gels

Once hardened, the nail is shaped, filed, and finished with polish.
