I recently got kinky twists done here, and unfortunately, my experience left a lot to be desired. I want to share my thoughts constructively to help o...thers make an informed decision. First, I requested a middle part, but it was noticeably off-center. The parts overall were uneven and lacked the neatness I expected, especially for the premium price I paid. If I'm going to invest in a premium service, I expect premium results—clean, precise parts at the very least. The pricing system also left me feeling a bit scammed. While I understand the booking site indicates prices may increase with a "+," I contacted them beforehand to inquire about the service. This was an opportunity for them to inform me of any price adjustments, but instead, I was told I didn’t have enough hair—which turned out not to be true, as I was sent back with two unused packs. The real surprise came at the end when the price increased by almost 50%. This unexpected hike after the service was done felt dishonest and left me very upset. The location was the main reason I gave this shop a second chance. While their customer service is efficient and the staff are polite, it's disappointing to walk out unhappy with the hairstyle, especially twice. Politeness doesn't fix a hairstyle that you're stuck with for weeks. I highly recommend exploring other braiding shops in the area. You may find better quality and transparency for your money elsewhere. Unfortunately, I won’t be returning, as this experience has solidified my decision to look elsewhere for future styling needs. Hey thanks for your review, so sorry to hear this and which u have out to us about this matter.. we even took out the whole Head of braids because u said you want braids close togethe .  after we spent an hour and half Braiding already ,no problem we took whole thing out  and re-braided your whole hair close together.  I explain to you that the closer the braids are , we will have to use extra hair for the braids to be closer together so it will not be as small small size because your hair was very thick. I myself and other lady stay until almost 1 o’clock just because we wanted your hair to look the way u like it to like. and we always do our best so our customers will be happy and we thought we did. yes she did say she was tired , because she’s pregnant eight months and we have been there since 5 am Back to school madness lol) (we all was )working and left at 1 o’clock again I’m sorry that you had to take it out I wish you would’ve reached out to us we would’ve fixed it just like we fixed it first time after we did it.  I thought you like the hair you even tell us you’ll be back with your daughter and even give us a tip didn’t see this coming at all.  if there anything we can do to make this right please reach out because you have been coming to African Twin Hair Braiding 15 or 16 years ago

I booked the $80 cornrows. When she finished she told me it would be $100. My receipt on Booksy shows a charge of $120 (the breakdown is 80 for style ...and 40 for tip which I didn't put). I wouldn't tell a stylist what to charge, BUT it is my decision to book if I agree with the pricing. I can't do that I've I'm not given honest and straightforward pricing. 2 stars for the lack of professionalism. Show more

**Update: VERY HAPPY WILL BE RETURNING** I expressed my dissatisfaction to the owner, Bendu. She contacted me immediately to rectify the situation. S...he came directly from vacation and redid my entire head. She was very communicative, understanding, and just wanted me to be happy with my hair. Her response to my dissatisfaction on top of my hair now being top tier is priceless. Definitely will be going back to see Bendu. She is amazing and my hair is perfection! Awful! I am extremely disappointed with my service. Will not be returning. Booking site quotes $350 for boho knotless, I paid over $525 and I did not receive a head full of braids due to my short cut. I had to purchase my own curly hair which was over $100 and I had to go to 3 different beauty supply stores to find it. The parts are uneven and HUGE. The braids are big, varying in size, and they aren’t clean. The quality does not match the service received. Very disappointing. Will not be returning. Show more
