Flip over boho cornrows

I had one of the worst and most traumatic salon experiences of my life today. I came in for a braid appointment and everything started off fine—until... I noticed that my part was extremely crooked. I kindly brought it to the braider’s attention (her name was Mel) and asked if we could do a quick, simple fix. Instead of responding professionally, she sucked her teeth, began yelling in a language I didn’t understand, and stormed off. Confused, I asked another lady in the shop what was happening. She explained that Mel was “ready to go” and I’d need to come back another day. I let her know that I couldn’t return and would be happy with the easiest fix possible. That’s when things took a very scary turn—Mel returned screaming with scissors in her hand, aggressively grabbing at my hair as if she was about to cut it. I was shocked and honestly scared for my safety. I remained calm, explained that I was still willing to pay for the service, and that I wasn’t trying to cause any problems. As a service provider myself, I know how important time and respect are. Thank God an older woman named Mama was there. She checked my part, confirmed it was crooked, and stood up for me, calmly asking Mel to fix it. If she hadn’t been there, I don’t know what could’ve happened. I cried in the chair for the rest of my appointment—feeling alone, vulnerable, and completely disrespected. Being new to the city, trying a new salon, and being in a room where I couldn’t even understand what was being said around me made the whole experience even more terrifying. Mel eventually admitted the part was wrong and offered me a coupon—but by then I just wanted to leave. I’m grateful for Mama and her kindness, but I would never recommend this salon to anyone. No customer should ever be treated the way I was today. Show more

This was my 2nd time coming. First time was good, just didn’t have lighter colors. First, never go on a Sunday. My appointment was 10-4. They were in ...such a rush to close at 4 they finished my hair in a rush. I mean literally running around trying to tidy up and get me out the door. If/when I come back I will be using another braider and book an earlier time. I said I didn’t want my edges braided (braided them anyway and took them down once I got home), used a lot of product (I had to wash my hair the next day), braids were suppose to be smedium. They were all different sizes small, medium, large. A lot of my curly hair came out the braids. Just messy! Show more

I would suggest adding water & light snacks for a more welcoming atmosphere. Also, please ask your clients if they need a quick break. My braids are ...pretty! They are soft, neat, and small just like I wanted them. I would note that it’s the next day and my head is sore, they are a little tight. I paid $285 for smedium boho bob length and I provided my own human hair curls. Show more

I wanted my braids halfway down my back and they are all the way to my butt! I told the girl at the beginning and she said okay but and when I went to... the bathroom it was all the way to my butt. I wanted my boho hair darker at the top and lighter at the bottom and I have blonde pieces alllll at the top! Also it was not quick, I was there from 1pm to midnight. My hair took exactly 10.5 hours to complete and it shouldn’t have. I had two braiders one for the back and one for the front. Which took their preciou...s time. Then I feel at the end the braiders that was doing the back of my head was rushing and my hair is uneven. I didn’t notice until I got home because I walked out of there after sitting that long. I was ready to go! Oh mind you there were people that came in after me that finished before me. Never again! Show more

Tanya did a wonderful job on my hair. It is absolutely beautiful. When I arrived, I did not have to wait. The process was very simply and easy. At the... front desk, she confirmed with me the type of braids I wanted. She showed me pictures of of what each size and length would look like. I choose small/medium lower back length knotless braids. The pricing is in writing and and she verbally confirmed with me how much I would be paying for the service before taking me to the back to begin the service. There is no room for confusion in my opinion. Very precise parting and the braids were neat. Tanya was very personable. In relation to the location, it is very easy to locate and there is a parking garage. I did not have to pay for parking. Givens suite is very nice and was also very clean. My experience was great and the only reason I’m giving them 3 stars is because I asked for mid-back for the length and I got hair to my butt. I’m an o...lder female and would save this style and length for my 26 yo daughter. I wish they interacted more with the customer instead of with each other and being on their phones. And yes I told 2 ppl the length I wanted. Show more
