  “Botox can be life changing for people suffering from hyperhidrosis”. Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) can be effectively treated using Botox injections in problem or affected areas. This treatment is extremely effective treatment in significantly reducing sweating in different regions of the body. The amazing results last up to 6 months before the treatment needs to be repeated. What can I expect from Botox to Treat Hyperhidrosis? This is where a non-cosmetic approach from Botox can be implemented into your treatment plan to help manage the symptoms related to hyperhidrosis. Botox’s mechanism of action when injected into the sweat glands blocks the nerve signals that are responsible for triggering sweat production and in return can help soften the sweat glands from over production of sweat. Over time though it has been found that patients can go longer between treatments when your maintenance visits are being followed through. It has been reported that this area can be more sensitive than others but is very effective when the dosing is being altered to treat your needs and the outcomes have been very beneficial. First, numbing cream is applied if the patient prefers and then a disinfecting agent is applied prior to injecting. We will will provide an assessment and the treatment plan and then little needles are used to inject a micro dose Botox into the sweat glands of affected areas of concern. Following treatment patients can expect: Bruising Swelling Tenderness Botox can help you feel more comfortable and confident in your own skin when treating for conditions like hyperhidrosis. Just knowing that there is a non-surgical option for treatment can help decrease your stress over sweat and can help you feel confident in everyday life. WHAT IS HYPERHIDROSIS? Hyperhidrosis typically affects; the scalp, the armpits, the feet and hands, and the groin area. These areas are most affected as there are more sweat glands present compared to other areas of the body. In Generalised hyperhidrosis, the whole body is affected by excessive sweating. In focal hyperhidrosis the excessive sweating affects only certain areas like the hands and feet. Some people suffer with hyperhidrosis from birth, and others find that it develops at a later stage. Commonly, excessive sweating will start to affect people in the adolescent stage of life. This condition is sometimes caused by a medical problem, or there may be no known cause. In primary focal hyperhidrosis certain areas are affected but the cause is unknown. In secondary hyperhidrosis, the excessive sweating is caused by a medical condition, such as hyperthyroidism, a tumor, gout, obesity, diabetes. THE SYMPTOMS OF HYPERHIDROSIS When excessive sweating interrupts your daily routine, this is known as hyperhidrosis. Sufferers can experience excessive sweating which occurs episodically. In focal hyperhidrosis, there is no other reason for the sweating which causes disruption to day-to-day activities. In some cases, changes to lifestyle and habits are known to ease the symptoms. WHAT IS HYPERHIDROSIS TREATMENT? Hyperhidrosis Treatment utilises Botox injections in order to block the nerve signals which cause excessive sweating without major side effects. This stops the sweat glands from working as hard as they did before the treatment. As the nerves regenerate over time, maintenance treatment is required at 4 to 6 monthly intervals. This treatment is highly effective in combating issues with excessive sweating in hyperhidrosis sufferers. Although sweating is a completely natural bodily function for regulating our body temperature, some individuals find that they sweat more than is needed for temperature regulation. Typically, this can seriously affect a person’s quality of life by playing havoc with their daily routine and their ability to socialise with others. Many people find that the condition is embarrassing to live with and they feel ashamed. This is both upsetting and isolating for sufferers.
