Since I met Luke a couple of years ago, I’ve stuck with him not because it’s easier to keep the same routine or the same barber, but because I simply ...have no reason to change. He’s the best I’ve found in six years of living in Halifax. Why? First of all, I’ve never seen him in a rush. He’d rather apologise to the next client than rush and give the current one a bad cut. His attention to detail is impressive: when he checks if the top is the same length on both sides, you can see how detail-oriented he is. Light matters too, if there’s strong sunlight from one side, he’ll turn the chair to make sure both sides look the same. With experience he needs to do it less, but he still does it. He’s not a therapist, and I like that. I often stay quiet, and he just gets on with his job without endless talking. He’s focused. The way he uses his tools says everything; he doesn’t need to show speed. He sees the small details like fades, but he also sees the big picture he shape of your hair and how the height of the fade suits your face. And he blends everything smoothly without leaving any disconnections. Sounds obvious and normal? No. There are plenty of barbers out there who are far from what he does. Honestly, that’s why I’m still with him.
