Wild River Dog Park

Hi Margaret Thanks so much for taking the time to leave a review, we appreciate feedback from our customers and will always respond whether a good or bad experience has been had. It was myself supervising the session on Sunday, and yes, unfortunately, I did have to ask you to take your little one into the sensory area as what he was happening was not balanced play but hyper arousal. This manifested as obsessive humping and chasing that was not fair on either of the girls who were just trying to chase their ball. It is my responsibility to stop situations like this escalating as not only is it stressful for the dogs receiving the unwanted attention but can put the other dog at risk of being hurt if the dog on the receiving end decides to tell them off. As you are aware at one stage the girls owner had to lift one of the dogs into his arms to get her some relief. Her snapping was purely an attempt at letting the wee man know she had had enough. We supervise the play sessions in the park to ensure all the dogs have an enjoyable experience, some dogs however do find the park environment to be overstimulating, especially young dogs and they can become fixated on others. We had 6 dogs in the session and not the usual 10, but unfortunately, when this happens between dogs, it doesn't matter who else is in the field. They can have a one track mind 😞 Again, i am sorry it wasn't an enjoyable visit, but I hope this has helped explain my actions. Kath ☺️

Thanks for the feedback re tethering, we have to be careful about tethering here in the park as dogs can feel very vulnerable on lead and worse if left, can cause reactivity 😞 We put a few in the coffee shop area for customers to hook on when eating but are reluctant to put anywhere else so dogs aren't left or tethered unless their human is with them. Hope this makes sense. Look forward to seeing you guys again soon 😊
